here is a quessing game, ripster will most likely ask for it $700 minimum, and an actual NIB should be around 400-500 tops....

Well...I was assuming it would be more than what he offers for his click clacks. Seeing as how he wants $1k for a click clack, a BNIB Model F A/T should be upwards of $2k amirite?

$2000 for keyboard?, you do need a cold bath bro, really cold bath..., the Model F AT that your looking not long a go got sold on ebay for around $250. Yes it was used but in an excellent condition. IBM keyboards are proven to be very high quality to a point that you clean it up and it looks brand new.... or if its lacking in any other mechanical way, you can bolt mod it, or while at it replace all bolts for $1.00 per 10 original IBM bolts.
Dont fall for the hype men, cause reallity is these collectors bought the same board few years a go for barelly $100 and now want for it as you say $2000, by all means buy it if you have a heavy wallet, why not, but then dont get stressed out when you see few months down the road the same board gets sold on ebay for 300-400 BNIB..... An who guarantees you that Ripster hasnt used the board? I doubt that paying extra $1600 for an IBM box and styrofoam is worth it.
Patience is a virtue, here is why: I always longed to have NIB White label, but they are rare, even clicky keyboards sold only 2-3 NIB from those. They usually end up on ebay for around $300+ and they all were missing cords....
Well guess what> patience is a virtue I just bought 2 NIB White logos for $270 shipped, one box is open for purpose of taking picture and the other is still sealed!!! they both got cords in its plastic wrap sealed....
I do regret not buying an SSK NIB for $250, they were both with the white label + 2 cords in plastic wrap, one short and one long cord. Reason why I didnt bought it, its because was spanish/UK layout with the big enter key..... when I think of it now, I should of snatched 1....oh well patience is a virtue, and if you dont have patience go for it and spend $2000 on a keyboard if it puts smile on your face :-)

I assume you did not pick up on my sarcasm. No way am I paying $2k for a keyboard. I will pay market price, perhaps market price plus a little premium. Not a 1000% markup though. I was just being snide because of ripster's click clack pricing...which is clearly sarcastic in itself too.

my bad you didnt point anything to being sarcastic....

Np...sarcasm is one of those things that isn't easily conveyed over the internet.

More like $8000!
The last NIB AT on ebay went for something like $800, didn't it? Obviously they're now totally out of reach of anyone that might actually want to use the thing! So that's that. Secondhand isn't so bad, pricewise, at all. You just have to keep up the search and grab what comes up... it's well worth it :-)

Don't fall for the hype.
You can't afford my hype.
Dont worry Ripster, in about 50 years you can sell all your IBM's make a small fortune and you can shew you'r money where sun wont shine, was talking of your bank offcourse... BTW I'm not after you'r precious Model F, got plenty IBM's, and why would I want to buy something from an adult that plays with Lego figures like a lil girl with barbie dolls?

LOL, as I told AKIMbO, I'm out of town on business. I'll send him some pics as soon as I get home (in a few weeks) if he still hasn't found a Model F AT by then. I'll put the keyboard up for sale here if he doesn't want it or no longer has a need for it.
I'm using a Model F PC/AT (the one below - not for sale), and I've got another one as a spare. The construction of these things is rock solid, I don't need a second spare. The latter needs a good home.

Yup, that's my recollection too - that NIB Model F AT sold for around $800-850. A fair price IMHO.

I'm waiting for him to get home from his business trip. I fully intend on buying his model f.

I knew nothing much about this until I read this thread and listened to some videos. It's a very interesting board! I think I prefer the sound to it over the Model M and do like the layout a bit more. It's too bad these aren't more accessible.
They feel a million times better than Model M's do too.

Considering it's the best keyboard switch ever made and production was stopped nearly 30 years ago and few exist NIB, it's a seller's market on that model.
Fortunately they are so well made that used ones clean up well.
I haven't exceeded my personal best typing speed on any other keyboard. But mine had mods like big backspace, key remapping, lighter spacebar spring, and was dismantled, cleaned and reassembled by a dentist using dental tools.
You'll find one.

I thought it was no 'excessive' bumping. A bump every day or two is not excessive.
Ok fine just reread the rules. I'll edit my post with one more word than 'bump'

i need to raise money to buy parts to make a new design model F, so i think i may need to sell this (http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Island:25919) guy. i got if for a song because it was in rough shape, but i put in about 10 hours of labor and another $50 or so in keycaps and controller. i think $150 would be a reasonable price.
a teaser about the new design i'm working on - case will be 13" x 6" and i might add subtle back lighting.

I presume you finally got an IBM Model F AT, congrats! Did you get it from bootstrap?

If you still have this, I'm interested in getting it. Will you offer it to fellow Penangite?
