Hi everyone,

50 keyboards from vortex are on the way to my partner's place in California. Pure and Poker will be ready for shipping on May 21, 2012 or so. And Race on May 28, 2012.

    $99.99 each ---NOT arrived yet.


2.1 Pure with blue switches, orange LEDs and plastic case
    $104.99 each ---  0 PCS available

2.2 Pure with brown switches, orange LEDs and plastic case
    $109.99 each --- 0 PCS available

2.3 Pure with red switches, orange LEDs and black AlUMINUM case
    $199.99 each --- 0 PCS available


3.1 Race with blue switches, green LEDs
    $119.99 each --- 2 reserved 5 PCS available


3.2 Race with brown switches, green LEDs
    $124.99 each --- 2 reserved 5 PCS available


3.1 Race with Red switches, green LEDs

PICTUREs will be updated later.


Shipping: Shipping will done through USPS and handled by my partner in California. USPS priority will be default option for Customers within the States, which cost $10 to $15. We charge the rate of USPS plus $0.99 for handling.

Canadian customers can choose between $15-ish 1st class mail or $25-ish priority.

We have used both 1st class mail and priority for international customers. The delivery time differed amoung countries and USPS has no estimation. International customers please contact me for shipping details.

My partner is a student of UCI, pick-up is available too if you are near by. Though he said only attractive females are welcomed.

Ordering: if you are interested in the boards listed above, please send me a PM or email to patrickpushen(at)gmail(dot)com including your paypayl account and zip code (US) or address(International). We will be only sending invoices when the board are ready. The board will be sent within 24hr of payment. If payment is not collected within 24 hrs without any notice, we will withdraw the invoice.

Update:
Good news:
1. Pures and Races arrived. We started shipping already. US buyers should be getting their tracking number today or tomorrow morning. International buyer should be getting theirs on Tuesday since 1st class international requests inspection in postal office.

Bad news:
1. Just found out Pokers are not in this shipment. Failure of communication between Vortex and me. I will contact 2 buyers who already paid for them regarding refund.
2.  There is no manual in Pure's box. I will send all Pure buyers the soft copy. Seriously I should ask Vortex for a refund/discount next time.

Other thought:
There were a few UK buyers contacted me about buying and shipping to UK. As I explained before, there are two shipping options
i. 1 st class mail internationl, $17.88, non-insurable, took 5 weeks for a British buyer last batch, and lost one in Germany.
ii. Priority international, $45-ish, insurable, guaranteed delivery within 6 - 10 business days
I highly recommend that you guys could bundle your orders together to one address by Priority and distribute them within your country. I will try to contact you later.

would anyone know if replacement letter only transparent key caps will be available? or at least KBT keycaps in PBT?

I'm glad I'm not the only one waiting for a non-disco Pure; the only reason I want to move on from my Poker is the lack of a dedicated Esc.

Actually according to my discussion with Vortex, you have to remove the copper pillar in the middle or somehow (file it or cut it) to redue the height of it to prevent it from contacting the PCB before pairing it the Poker.

in my experience the copper bit is press-fit, and can just be pulled out.

The Pure is a 60% keyboard where your function row, arrows, etc are all now Fn accessible-only keys.

The Race is 75% where you have most of those keys, but they are just jammed in tighter.

When you think about it a larger keyboard with more keys (the Race) should cost more than a smaller keyboard with less keys (the pure) when all else is considered like identical switches and similar back lighting.

I'm comparing in general to qtan's price of ~$144 for pure and ~125 for Race. Qtan has the special edition pure for $250 compared to p.s.'s price of $200. Not unlike milk on a hot summer day, Qtan was a bad choice...this time.

ooh. sorry, misunderstood.

i did think qtan's pricing looked a little high this time, especially given his pricing for pokers before the big vortex drought.

the pure pricing may have more to do with how much qtan paid in shipping though; keep in mind he did have the units a week earlier than everyone else.

Sorry for the delay. I was off town for the Victoria Day long weekend and it seems my partner missed the first delivery. He will pick it up on Thursday and we start shipping on Saturday May 26th. Given that his final exams are coming soon, I would not like to push him too much.

Good news:
1. Pures and Races arrived. We started shipping already. US buyers should be getting their tracking number today or tomorrow morning. International buyer should be getting theirs on Tuesday since 1st class international requests inspection in postal office and Monday is holiday in US.

Bad news:
1. Just found out Pokers are not in this shipment. Failure of communication between Vortex and me. I will contact 2 buyers who already paid for them regarding refund.
2.  There is no manual in Pure's box. I will send all Pure buyers the soft copy. Seriously I should ask Vortex for a refund/discount next time.

Other thought:
There were a few UK buyers contacted me about buying and shipping to UK. As I explained before, there are two shipping options
i. 1 st class mail internationl, $17.88, non-insurable, took 5 weeks for a British buyer last batch, and lost one in Germany.
ii. Priority international, $45-ish, insurable, guaranteed delivery within 6 - 10 business days
I highly recommend that you guys could bundle your orders together to one address by Priority and distribute them within your country. I will try to contact you later.

According to the Enter key, it's KBStalking, as in paparazzi after BrAngelina.  Or maybe it's KB(Squirrel)talking.

The KBStalking Pure appears to be plug&play with OSX, so all those naysayers were wrong–thankfully!  I think this is going to be a HHKB killer for MacBooks.

Here are some notes:

fn+B cycles through the three lighting modes (OFF, ON (after which fn+V and fn+N will change brightness), "breathing mode")
fn+Z/sw3 turns fn on like fn-lock, so you can use all the second level features of keys without holding fn down.
fn+Asw2
fn+Qsw1
              both of these turn on some BRIGHT white lights under the space bar.  No idea what else they do.
I have not changed the DIP switches from all off.  Remapping alt and acorn to option and command works fine in OSX's Prefs for Keyboards.
Even the volume controls work great!

My only real complaint is that tilde is off to the right of right-shift.  If anyone knows of a way to modify ESC to be ~, please let me know.

Now, where is my cheat sheet for the DIPs?  My Chingrish is not so great, but here's what translates from cool3:

Read my review above for details.  As far as I can tell everything on the Pure is 100% functional with OS X!  

I'm glad p.s. ran out of Blues; this was really my second choice, but I find the Al case Reds is really nice. I predict everyone will be clambering for these pretty soon.  :-D

As you can see above, it fits perfectly on a MacBook Air, and surprisingly manages to NOT push down on the underlying keys, which is something NONE of my other keyboards will do.

Upon closer examination I think I got the wrong keyboard.  This appears to be a plastic, not Aluminum, case.  :-o[/strike]   Wow, the Aluminum is so well made that, with the textured paint over it, it seemed just too perfect to be true, but upon even closer examination (I pulled back a rubber foot and scratched it with a knife  :-P) it really is pure Aluminum metal.  SWEET!  :-D

... and p.s. wins the award for swiftest and most attentive customer service ever!  :-)

Apparently the Aluminum case is lower profile too.  I missed out on a plastic one with MXBlues, so I can't compare side-by-side.  Right now though, I think I have a new favorite keyboard.  I may even be able to get used to the misplaced tilde key–I'll know better about that after I've been in a shell for a while.

The placement of the fn key on the right of the spacebar, while leaving the Command, Option, Control keys where they belong, on the left, was a surprisingly brilliant choice.  The option to use the right-shift, alt, acorn, ctrl keys as arrows is very clever too.  These Taiwanese Squirrels should win an award for best compact keyboard design outside of Apple, and best ever made with mechanical switches.  

Now, when can I get an Aluminum Pure with MXBlues, please?  :-D

This keyboard just keeps proving itself to be better and better than anything else!  I am typing this via the CCK on an iPad (WITH the LEDs cranked up to 100% even)!  Sure, it complains that "this device is not supported", but dismiss that alert and type away happily with a keyboard not much wider than the iPad itself, and illuminated for these late night, last minute comments from the dark.  :-D

Love this keyboard! Has everything I need in a compact size. The only gripe I have is that the symbols aren't lighted. Oh wells.

The only time key cap height is an issue is when you mix them, like using OEM modifiers with Cherry alphanumerics. If you use all of one or the other type, there is no issue. SP key height is lower than OEM, but not quite as low as actual Cherry Corp key caps.

Argh! I missed this buy. I really wanted the the Pure KB with no LED. I love the fact that it has a detachable cord. But would love 11KRO instead of 6. If anyone got an extra or can smuggle me one, please PM me. I got the money. Black would be awesome too.

Or I'll buy on the 4th batch.

AFAIK, they used blue for their early production in limited quantities. Not sure if that is available anymore. Unless they use it on their limited editions, which I have not seen.

I have only seen blue PCBs in the prototype batch. All the others are with Red PCBs.
