THE GIVEAWAY IS OVER! Thanks to everyone that participated.

Djuzuh has posted some pics of his winnings here:
http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?32074-Glissant-s-give-away-Click-clack-skull-!&p=607306#post607306

Here's the recording I promised. A short little thing that shows me drawing the winner.

Congratulations to DJUZUH for winning my first giveaway!

I got my CC skulls from Canada today, so it's time to celebrate what I think is a pretty great community.

And by celebrate I mean give away free stuff! I am giving away my factory second blue ClickClack skull

Look at that beauty!

So what do you have to do to win this awesome key cap?
Well, since I think a community is all about sharing, I thought we could make the giveaway a little personal.
All you have to do is tell us a little about yourself, how you got into keyboards, and why YOU should win the skull.
Oh, and before I forget! Post your entry right here in the thread (thanks I3oilermaker).

I will be accepting entries until May 29th 2012 at 1:00PM PST.
The winner will be picked randomly through random.org at the conclusion of the giveaway. BUT you won't be entered unless you do what is asked to enter, so make sure you have your entry up to snuff. Post something if you had to update your post.
Your username will only be recorded as an entry once.

Shipping will be on my dime too, so don't worry about it =).

Good luck to everyone! And I look forward to reading all the entries.

I won't exclude users that already have CC's. If you want to enter, that's your choice.

Well I will make my case, even though the decision is made by a random generator...

I have a bunch of friends and we are all pretty well networked in the IT field.  We have an email listserve that we use to share cool things we come across.  All my buddies started talking about mechanical keyboards and I didn't really see the point.  They kept talking it up and finally I was convinced.  In the process of researching keyboard options I stumbled upon GeekHack and saw all the cool things you could do.  I was pretty much addicted from there on out.

I have been trying to acquire a ClickClack since I joined GH but for those like me on the hunt know it is not easy.  It is a bit frustrating seeing people like ripster, dangwang, cactux with their own army of ClickClack and my best attempts to get just one at silly prices ($50 bids) have failed.  I have heard so much about how great the keys are and really want to join the club :)

As a kid I've gone through many keyboards trying to set up my computer desk like a command center, but at the same time I also remember my mom's old ibm keyboard at work and how I would random hit every key because I like the sound it made. So time grew on and I had given up on keyboards when I went to college and had a laptop, but shortly after college, I realized my old keyboard was trash and needed a new one, after much research it brought me to mechanical keyboards. After a little more digging it brought me to GH where my money is constantly wasted. Personally I DON'T think I should win since I already have a couple CC's while others have none, but this contest is 100% random and not based on need so....why not. I joined GH in April 2011, and only recently acquired my first CC in February, and it took me 10 months after finding out about them. So I am not gonna post a sap story about not having one cause no one wants to read those, and I doubt anyone acquired their CC's easily. And although Dangwang has quite a few, he also LOST quite a few in the mail, and I am sure that hurts more than anyone's "need" for one.

I'm just a normal kid with extra time on his hand to watch gamers play games. I first got into keyboards is by watching gamers stream. Watching Destiny caught my attention as every time he press a button I hear the click clack and soon fell in love with it. Realizing the amazing sound he made I did some research about what keyboard destiny use and then I somehow found geekhack and started to go on geekhack everyday. I hope I win the skull because who doesn't like free stuff, but the chances of that are slim due to the fact it being random. So may the odds be with me!

My name is Justin.
I am pretty new to the forum but of course ended up here because of keyboards.

I made the mistake/blessing in disguise of buying a steelseries keyboard. At the time all I knew was that mechnaical keyboards ARE better.. I was then introduced to this wonderful forum by a friend and learnt a lot fast (byebye steelseries, hello filco). I have since spent hours each day reading/learning from the forum and its members.

I have even made a new friend to add to facebook through keyboards. Keyboard <3!

I'd love to win the skull just as much as the next person! I've only managed to get hold of CC with a hefty price tag so a gift would be somewhat epic!

Cheers Glissant! Great opportunity!

If you have a CC and still choose to participate that is up to you. I don't play favorites. I'm just giving away a skull here, and all I want in return is some personality =).

I'm loving the entries already. Helps me see people in a way different light. It's no longer "that person with that name".

I agree, mostly because I am clickclackless,

I got into collecting keyboards when seeing some solid build nice keyboards getting tossed at work.  These were mostly promised to resellers so wasn't really legit to snag them however I did manage to glom onto a Northgate Ultra and a yellowed Dell which turned out to have pink alps, probably more I can't think of right now.  I cry these days when I think of the multitude of IBM buckling spring keyboards that got sent to landfills but what can you do?  I think it was finding the Northgate in storage in the basement and looking for some additional info that lead me here.  Of course as is the case with most who find geekhack, my wallet suffered and I have a few more keyboards and associated scorn from my wife who JUST doesn't appreciate what jewels those keyboards are, hah.

I was vaguely aware for a long time that there were expensive keyboards out there that were fundamentally better than the ones available at Best Buy.  I used a Kinesis Advantage at work and just knew that it felt miles better than what I had at home, and I was aware of Model Ms, having used one as a kid on my dad's computer.

It wasn't until I got into Starcraft 2 that I heard the term "mechanical keyboard" though, and started looking into it.  What finally led me to geekhack was looking for ways to dye keycaps in order to get the classic SC checkerboard look without having to buy two keyboards.  I found iMav's epic RIT dye thread through google and branched out from there.  Like boiler, I knew pretty much immediately that I needed to be part of this community.  I spent an unhealthy amount of time lurking the forum for a few weeks, reading everything and coming up to speed on acronyms and personalities and whatnot, and obsessing about my initial purchases (a blue-switch Filco and a Unicomp).

I enjoy being here immensely and have made many friends, and have met up with a few of them IRL.  Thanks, geekhack!  TBH I don't understand the obsession with ClickClack skulls, but I certainly wouldn't mind having one.

I got into computing in 1984 when I took a 6-month beginners' class. I was 7 years out of college, recently divorced, and living with my cousin and her husband in a new city. We worked on Apple IIs and I really enjoyed it.

Afterwards, I got a job in an Architectural firm and we were just starting to get into CAD. I bought my first computer in 1985, a PCs-Limited (I dealt with Michael Dell) 286 AT clone with a 5.25" floppy, 20MB Winchester, and a whopping 1MB of RAM (which I had to split off the last third into a virtual floppy drive D: (pretty bad-ass back then) because I could only address 640KB directly), a small amber monitor, and a no-name OEM keyboard with clicky keys (which I honestly never pulled and examined in the 12 years I owned it!). The whole setup cost me $2800 without a printer and was a bargain at the time.

About 1994 I got a hand-me-down 486 from my geek brother-in-law, and shelved the old system. A few years later I gave it away, and regretted it since, especially the Epson dot-matrix printer (I would love to have another one of those, fading or smearing ink? forget it). I resisted Windows until mid-1998, when I had to jump in because of my job.

With the new 1998 Dell system that I boss provided me, I got an AT-101 which was lovely and I still have it, going strong. When I left that job in 2003, I bought a Compaq system which came with an SK-2800C keyboard (an excellent rubber dome with media keys) which I used regularly for about 6 years. I liked it so well, I even bought a few spares at yard sales, etc, when I saw them especially cheap.

Then, a couple of years ago, I bought a couple of really old keyboards at a thrift store for a couple of dollars each. One was a Northgate Omnikey 102, which I remembered my brother-in-law having owned many years earlier and always raving about it. The Northgate felt great, and I was really getting excited about it, but it had a couple of bum keys. I eventually sold it on ebay (I faithfully disclosed the bad keys) and resurrected the Dell AT-101. It was better than I remembered.

Fast forward a bit. After only a couple of internet searches I realized that the IBM Model M was "The One True Keyboard" and in another couple of searches I was here.

My first ebay Model M was a beautiful 1991 black label in perfect condition for $45 delivered (that was late 2010 I think).

Then I started branching out, and who knows where. I am fortunate that I live in the suburbs where there are a lot of yard sales, and my job has me driving by numerous thrift stores, so I drag in something interesting at least once a month, and although most is junk, I do hit on a really nice board every once in a while. I am a natural-born tinkerer, so vintage stuff appeals to me.

I have bought a number of keyboards online, new and used, and re-sold most of them (the ones that were junk got junked). But although I have occasionally made modest profits, I have suffered an overall loss, to be sure. My worst "addiction" situation came last summer, when I really started lusting after an IBM Model F AT (thanks to all the Geekhack raves). From about May 2011 until about August, there were maybe 1 or 2 for auction on ebay, total, and they went for prices that I thought were absurd. Then, from about August-September, there was one listed about every week or 2, and I was bidding way high against another buyer (or 2 or 3). They all sold for way too much, and I was feeding the flames. I eventually bought about 4, over the course of about 2-3 months, and ended up selling 3 at a loss (because there was at least some modest supply available by then). But, after losing probably a couple of hundred dollars overall, I did end up with one very nice specimen (and a "fair" box). After all that effort, however, I realized that I could not live with the layout.

About then, Soarer came through with the Teensy mod and I got a couple of the big Model F-122s, so I had a wonderful project to keep me busy and a wonderful keyboard to really experience buckling springs on when I finished. Now, to me, Model Ms are second-class in comparison, although they do have the perfect "classic" ANSI layout.

Cherry switches are not in the same class with buckling springs for iron-clad indestructibility, but they have great qualities of their own. There is a lot to be said for small footprints, virgin newness, modern styling, non-beige colors, and native USB cables. And all the cool key caps are MX-only. (But WHY do the LEDs have to be so damn bright?)

I need some sort of tactile feedback, so blues and browns are what satisfy me. I am really looking forward to WASD's new PBT offerings later this year.
I could definitely see getting some reds (with o-rings) for the times when I needed to do "stealth" typing, for the benefit of people around me.

PS - but the actual reason that I should win the key is because I have a wife going through menopause, and a daughter going through puberty, at the same time.

All I recall from my early computer days is that older keyboards _felt_ better than later ones. They could very well have been mechanical, but I didn't know there was a difference until years later. Through highschool and college, I went through several keyboards, which were all rubber domes. I couldn't understand _why_ keyboards were made so cheaply, and just assumed it was in parallel to _everything_ being made cheaper thanks to outsourcing. I didn't realize mechanicals were even still in production.

At one point in college, I came across a Model M, and loved it. It was a beast, but felt so _good_ to type on. I was an aspiring writer as well as an avid gamer, and the Model M stuck close by until I had to downsize my possessions. I stepped back from desktops for personal computing, so was left with scissor switches. I guess I liked them better than crappy rubber domes, but they still didn't _do_ anything for me.

Not long ago, I stepped back and thought about when I most enjoyed writing, and it came back to my older IBM computers and later the Model M. So I jumped back on the wagon and started researching mechnical keyboards, realized I didn't _have_ to buy vintage, and ultimately landed here at Geek Hack. I'm now looking for my second mechanical, and drooling over all the cool keys like Click Clacks that are out there, yet very difficult to get. Why should I get the CC? Other than _really_ loving the design, I'm now trying to promote mechanical keyboards to the unenlightened!

Id love a CC! I am new here and got interested when my housemate found out about the Das through Reddit. I played with his, found the feeling to be quiet pleasurable, and put in an order myself.

I decided to buy the Das Keyboard Ultimate Silent because I sometimes look at my fingers when typing and want to break the habit. So far so good!

I found GH after looking into mech keyboards and interest in modifications. I quickly fell deep into this new hobby and hope to be an active member in the community. I am now evangelizing to coworkers and have recently found out one of them wants to make a ceramic key by doing a mold... we will see how that goes. I also hate myself because at highschool and college I could have obtained any of their old keyboards. Oh well. I may do some plundering though come a friends wedding in my college town.

Been banging away on mechanicals for about 4 years now, mostly buckling springs. I recently started using MX based boards.
I should win because I ALWAYS ask my coworkers if they mind the noise before I use buckling springs or Cherry blues at work.
Also, I have never bought a CC and have no interest in the ridiculous profiteering that comes out of their limited nature. I will cherish my free click clack as a token of goodwill and community building.

Also also, here's some cats dancing.

Well, I'll start by telling you a little about me, then how I came to join this community.

I got my first computer in late 1983. It was the Texas Instruments TI-99/4A. I connected it to my little TV, and it only came preloaded with TI BASIC. I got a cassette tape drive for storage, and learned to write a few simple programs in BASIC. Our family got our first IBM-clone PC in 1987, and it was a "luggable" XT with an 8088 processor and two 5-1/4" floppy drives. Suitcase style! No HDD, though. You had to load DOS 2.2 first, then you could remove the boot floppy and load cool text-based adventure games, Print Master, Lotus 1-2-3, or Word Star. Yay!

I started using mechanical keyboards in 2001, when I bought two Model M's on eBay. One was a NOS 42H1292, and the other was a 51G8572. Both manufactured at Greenock in late 1996. I used them off and on for the last 11 years. When I recently pulled one out and connected it to my system, it got me thinking about mechanical keyboards again. I found Unicomp, did a few searches, and found GH. I knew I had to be a part of this community, I just didn't know how much money I would spend trying out all these different kinds of mechanicals, and the associated keycaps! I did find that I love Filcos with brown switches.

I think CC creates some beautiful keycaps. It's no wonder they are among the most highly prized and sought after items here at GH. I should win one because I can value the artistic value above the financial value of it.

I'm Sifo I'm some kid who's been on the internet his whole life and I spend like 99% of my day looking at a digital screen. I like StarCraft and eSports in general, and I like to type. I got into keyboards when I first bought a Qsenn DT-35 for playing StarCraft, which I still think is the greatest keyboard in the world (it's not just any rubber dome board!), but I prefer mechanical boards because they're the trend (and because I love mx blues and spending money on keycaps). I got into mechanical keyboards when I saw a teamliquid thread on mechanical keyboards, convinced my friend to buy a black widow and I tried it out. Then I ended up buying my own WASD board, tested out a few other ones, and I'm getting a Filco soon. I should win the clickclack because I like cats.

In early 2007, I was diagnosed with CRDS. I spoke to several experts who provided some assistance, but provided little direction in the best potential cure. It wasn't until I made a personal effort to go online and research it myself that I came across GeekHack. I'm happy to report that I am now CRDS free and have built a fairly strong immunity to CRDS aka. “Cheap Rubber Dome Syndrome”

Literally though, I got tired of the crappy Dell keyboard I took from work so I decided to go old school and pick up a mechanical Filco with browns.

Why should I win the skull? Great question!

Unfortunately, since finding GeekHack I have contracted a new condition known by many GH members as EWS or more simply "Empty Wallet Syndrome" and I "heart" ClickClacks!

Like Ripster, I first found GH when trying to figure out what the heck was wrong with my Das III.  Unlike Ripster, I'm a cat enthusiast and lurker who's screaming along at 0.22 posts per day.  I do manage to participate in a group buy every now and then and occasionally post a YouTube video that gets deleted in a system rollback.  I'm probably sufficiently qualified to answer most noob questions by now, so I suppose I should make more of an effort to do that.  For those too young to recognize my avatar, the computer that got me hooked was the Amiga 1000.  I actually still have it and it still runs fine.  I keep it on my desk at work to confuse people.

I should win the CC key because I don't have a blue one yet, and because my wife can't yell at me for a keyboard related "non-purchase".

I had a lot of keyboards under my fingers over the years, both alphanumeric and musical. From pianos I knew about actions. From myriad tech jobs, and temping in IT, I must have had a unique experience of typing on scores, if not hundreds, of different kinds of keyboards, so when it came time to get one for myself, I knew that the Magitronic FK-5000 was the one for me. What I didn't know was WHY. That I learned from these fora over the past several months, when I finally had had enough of Apple's crap, and went in search of a replacement for the FK (complicated Alps, BTW) which had started acting up a few years ago. I have really enjoyed being introduced to the modern world of mechanical keyboards, just as Apple has started foisting gorilla glass fingertip pain upon the world.  I expect my Filcos to outlast me this time, and thanks to ripster's guides I may even get the old FK working again. :-)

If I win the ClickClack, I think I will donate it to the geek hack who has shown the greatest kindness, compassion, love, humor, and maturity to this community.

The whole reason I got into mechanical keyboards was that I was tried of typing on shotty rubber domes and just wanted better peripherals. So I looked into better keyboards, found mechanical, looked at pictures and saw the cool key cap designs. I was hooked, I asked on a tech website and was recommended to GH for more information. I came here, asked a question, bought a WASD and have been hooked ever since. I still don't understand the huge appeal behind the CC keys, so this will be my only opportunity to get a CC key since I'll probably never buy one.

Anyways, good luck to all :)

I got into mech keyboards because I stumbled on the DAS*site one day (don't remember how), and then shortly afterwards I learned a friend of mine owns one. I then, on reddit, saw hazelstuffs thread about the LoL keyset and DangWang's picture about the pink keyboard for his girlfriend.

This is the moment I started to read a bit about geekhack. After one weak of being here, A Filco was in the mail for me ! I couldn't resist longer.

BUT*I*REGRET*NOTHING. Also, I'd like the CC*because I have none, and would like to see how they feel.

Honorable mention deserves an honorable story! I won't go into the details of my origins, but I do love the way the community has evolved over the past year and a half.  I'm not really a veteran around here, but I've lurked for long enough to see it vastly grow almost overnight.

It was just like the days of yesteryears, when it was difficult to even buy a Filco.  First EK had them, then they didn't...and all of a sudden there was a shortage in America.  Months passed by as the USA was suffering Filco withdrawals, where the only place you could get your fix was from PCHome.  And thank God, when they had them, they weren't overcharging (especially with their awesome shipping deal).  But anyway, with the abundance of new users coming to these forums, I'm hoping we can all grow into a better, stronger, knowledgeable community.

My journey with mechanical keyboards began with my brother's interest in switches and their longevity over membrane boards. It took me a bit of time to save, but after a little time, I got my first keyboard about two years ago. A scorpius m10 cherry mx blue.

My brother also showed me the CC skull keycaps, and it sparked my interest in the modding capacity of this great community. After a few months of lurking, I wanted to become a part of GH. I think I should win because I want to return the favor and for bringing me into the fold of his hobby, I would give the key to my brother. :)

My favorite part of being here? I get to see and interact with brilliant artists daily. I cherrish being here because very few hobbies can offer this level of involvement and gratification with just an "idea". :-)

I got into this after constant annoyance using an apple keyboard.
Went looking for mechanical KB advice and ended up here.
I've now ran one group buy at no profit, helped people where I can and now I'm trying to convert vintage boards with teensy's.
All this and I don't have a clack due to being in the wrong timezone and asleep during the sales :(

I have been around computers for most of my life and have been spending the majority of my day in front of one for some years now. A bit over a year ago I began my search for the ultimate keyboard. After trying out many of the well-regarded rubberdomes, I knew there has to be something else out there.

About 6 months ago, I discovered mechanical keyboards. I started out with a Ducky Shining with browns. A few months later I discovered Geekhack. Since then I've tried keyboards with blacks, blues, and Topre key switches before settling on what I have now.

Now I'm working on my keycap collection. Since first seeing them, I have been in search of a CC skull keycap. Given their lack of availability and very high asking price, I've yet to acquire one. If I win, I will be very happy. :)

I got into keyboards in December, when a strange man from the internet offered to buy my friend and I a present from PCCG. (He wasn't that strange, we knew him quite well)
He was giving us a whole lot of ****, and ended up making us pick numbers, He was going to "buy" me some Roccat keyboard? I said what about this one instead, it was a black widow.
I then came here seeking a better keyboard, still not knowing the he wasn't actually going to buy us anything, I decided on a full size leopold with browns.
He ended up not buying us anything, and never spoke to us again..
I bought the leopold.
I should win the CC, because...
I just should.

Probably the worst story ever..

Just updated my list of entrants. I think it is true, people don't care to read on a keyboard forum. They only want to type ;). Make of that what you wish.

I hope you all are reading each others posts. There are some really good ones =).

Don't forget to read the simple instructions in the first post ;).

Hi there,
I'm Wilson, IT student.

I've been a geekhack members for 6 months now. Pretty much, i'm checking this website out almost every single day.
First time i got really involve into keyboards was because of game. When playing game, i thought a cool and good keyboard will boost the mood of playing well which mostly will lead to winnning. So, I started to research on different types of keyboard starting from google and that is how i ended up here. I was a keyboard freak since then i could say. I owned a few keyboard now and collect different types of unique and quirky caps.

I think i should win this caps this time because i've entered this kind of giveaway few times before and i had no luck. So i hope i could win this one and that would mean the world to me cos the cap is looking GREAT! Besides, this would look good in adding to my collections. i havent had a skull caps till now. so if i could get this one...WOW. that would be awesome.

Thanks so much. Cheers.

My name is Jan, I'm 26 and a german computer-science student. Since a long time I only use ThinkPads in my daily life.
A while ago I saw a Noppoo Choc mini in a non-keyboard related board. After some research I came here to geekhack.

My first mechanical keyboard buy was the noppoo. I immediately equiped it with german cherry corps doubleshots. My next keyboard purchase was an old Apple m0110. Cause I love the style of it. It will be my first keboard-mod-project.

Some days ago, I bought a HHKB Pro2. Can't wait for it. :-)

Until now, I didn't have the chance to obtain a clickclack keycap. I'm participating in a lot of groupbuys. Geekhack takes all my money... :D

I need a clickclack, because I hope it scares the hell outta my girlfriend and she never ever touches my keyboard again :-)

Thanks!

The wonderful money-sink that is Geekhack =). I know it too well already with all of the group buys going on. Was it always this crazy? I don't know how people can keep up with jobs, a spouse, school, dog, cat, birds, sisters, brothers, etc...
There are 23 entries so far. The odds aren't too bad... yet!

It's amazing that so many have opted to follow the instructions. I thought we had stopped reading when we got our keyboards.. it's all about typing now, right?

Think about this by the way; If you decide to be a poor sport, I might decide to be a poor sport.

Capiche?

Sup guys. My name is Ben and I am 23 years old. I am currently a level 2 tech for a IT company in Boise, Idaho. Nothing fancy just IT support for small businesses in the area. I was first told about mechanical keyboards from my friend who had a Zowie Celeritas. The weird layout bugged me and I ended up getting a Filco MJ1 with browns. I think my first post was asking about a keyboard but it ended up being a rubber dome :-(

In about a year I have/had a keyboard with every cherry switch. My Realforce 55gram and Linear R are my favorite; But I do miss my SSK :hat:

I think I should get the skull because I only have 1 mx one :-(

I can trace my entry into the keyboard world quite accurately.

I love typing. My grandmother knows shorthand (not sure which system she uses) because she was a secretary long ago. This led me to learn (a few years ago) what court reporters did. I was always fascinated by them, but had no idea what kind of keyboard or technology they used to record people's words at such high speeds. So, I learned that they used Steno machines, and I obsessed about this for months. I considered getting myself one of these machines so I could teach myself a system of stenography, but I didn't. However, I did find "Plover" which is an open source translation/steno dictionary program for Linux. That led me to looking into keyboards with N-key rollover (as steno typing requires pushing several keys simultaneously), which led me to mechanical keyboards, and to geekhack. While I've put my steno obsession on the back burner for now, I am obsessed with everything keyboard related.

And btw, I'm teaching myself Gregg shorthand over the summer.

I think I should win this because I'm just such a nice person. SO nice. People have a hard time hating me because of how well I treat them, and I'm overly considerate of people's feelings. Which is why it's always a little off-putting for people when I show them my skull collection. Not skull keycaps, skulls. Human skulls. I open my closet to show people and then I just stare at them with a dead serious expression. For some reason, I don't have many friends, so I really think I should win this keycap. o_o

Hey! I'm Phil, and I work as a programmer / data analyst.

When I started at my most recent company, I started on the same day as a geekhacker, Kelsin. I had grown up with model Ms (my father is a longtime IBMer) and had a dim understanding that older style boards were preferred by typists, but i hadn't seen  anything quite like the TKL filco with group buy 3 dolch-alike caps on it that he showed up to the office with. I made the mistake of asking where on earth he had gotten his keyboard, and was promptly directed here. I spent some time reading up on the benefits for typists of mechanical keyboards, and was finally swayed by this post (http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/2010/10/the-keyboard-cult.html) on coding horror. Needless to say, I've ended up with a TKL myself, along with a few keys from WASD and the last novelty group buy.

As for why I should get the clickclack? Not only do I not have a clickclack at all yet, sky blue is my favorite color.

I live in Norway and work as a plumber.  I play a lot of games on the PC, now days it's Heroes of Newearth, TERA, and of course Diablo 3.
Don't remember how I first learnt about mechanical keyboards, think it was the razer BW, and then searched for more info about cherry MX.

I now own a Ducky Shining with brown switches, CM Storm quickfire rapid with red, and a Ducky DK1087XM with green Alps, deciding on what board to get next ( want an MX blue, thinking about Filco)
I got my little brother(15) into mechanical keyboards, actively trying to get my friends into it as well ;)

Anyway... I should get it because shipping with be cheep for a change,
or if you live close, I could come pick it up as long as you don't rape me ;o

Another IT dork and former IBMer here. Always had model M's at IBM and had the black one with trackpoint at my desk. I wish I took that black one with me after I left, but I didn't. Hated going back to rubberdome's at my new job and wanted something smaller and quieter than a model M and Google took me to GH. Started out with 2 new brown switch TKL FILCO's, a black case and a white case one. Spent way too much on keycaps: R3/Ragnorock/RedAlert/Cream&Cheese/Cherry full sets and too many novelty key caps to count. Thinning out the heard now though so everything except Cream&Cheese and Cherry full sets are staying and everything else is being slowly sold off. I should win the CC so I can give it to my boss so he stops bugging me about them, lol

I can't remember the exact reason why I started posting here. I think my first post was related to finding a KB-5181 and not knowing what it was. I think I had read an article on TomsHardware about Model M's and why they were so great, so i scoured the back room of the shop i work at and found the aforementioned KB. Ripster helped me determine what switch type it used, and i fell for the feel. Since then i got an M off eBay and a Unicomp in the classifieds here for a tidy sum, as well as a couple of other KB's that nobody wanted for cheap. Cleaned them all up and gave them a second chance. Since I mostly only use them at work, I mainly only use ones that have Winkeys (lot of shortcuts i'm used to). Been keeping my eye out for a modern mech that isn't going to bleed my wallet. I've got one kid and one on the way.

In either case, as I stated , I don't have a modern mech, So I really don't deserve the keycap as i would not use it outside of sitting it on my desk. I mostly just wanted to feel important.

If they made BS skulls/novelty caps i might have picked one up already though :p

My love for technology old and new would have lead me here one way or another I think, but I'm a gamer and I think a fair amount of people like myself found this site in the quest to improve your APM : P

I randomly found this site in the hunt for mechanical keyboard information (relating to gaming, specifically CS and SC2). I remember first finding the cherry MX wiki and being slightly overwhelmed with it and the vast amount of information posted in these forums. I lurked all summer last year and made an account after deciding on a Leopold. I remember waiting for the MX clear boards to stock and last minute changing my order to blues when they showed up. It was all down hill from then on, the great community that resides here definitely kept me coming back as well as my thirst for information and trying to find the perfect board.

I think I should win the skull because I don't have any MX clacks ;_;

As previously mentioned, I won't exclude anyone. If you have a CC, and decide to enter that's your choice. If I start excluding some people I will have to exclude others. People with HHKB's come to mind. And moderators. And people with less than 20 posts, or people that have been a member for less than a month.
Having a CC shouldn't exclude you. It's not anybodies fault that you got your CC and they didn't. I got mine by throwing money at the screen, but not everyone can or will do that for key caps. With that said I wouldn't have entered this giveaway now that I have my Clacks.

Anybody have any objections to me posting the list of entrants?

My first computer was an Atari 800 which I believe was mechanical.  Self taught myself programming.  Started in nuclear engineering and loved computers but never considered them for a career for some [dumb] reason.  Switched to economics.  Moved to Wisconsin for a job and noticed we had an old keyboard.  I asked if I could have it and it turned out to be a Northgate Omni Key 101.  I was concerned it would break and I'd be quality keyboard-less so I bought an Avant Stellar Prime.  Years past ....

After being a workaholic for a while and getting too much personal serenity from exhaustion a massive multi-year project ended.  I became unsatisfied with my other hobbies and wanted to learn something new.  I saw a review a keyboard with a plate with no upper case and started searching about it.  That search led me here.  Since then I've taken up learning about mechanicals, electronics and soldering.  I now no longer need to worry about running out of quality keyboards:)  Some of my coworkers now know quite a bit more as well about mechanical.

Why should I get the keycap?  Hmm ... .  Because the guilt over winning it would occupy my mind?!?  That doesn't sound like a persuasive argument.

This is a great thing for you to do. I'm David (a very old geezer), and have always been a hardware geek. We build gaming PC's in my apartment as it has become my hobby. Always looking for the latest popular hardware had brought me here. I'm not sure I remember how. I had a VIC 20 back in 1982 but didn't get very far with it.
I've recently added the CMStorm Quickfire (blues) to what I have in my sig. I would feel strange saying I deserve to win anything for free...but I would like my name thrown in the pot. I don't own any CC keys but I love what ClickClack has created.

I'm an 18 year old guy from outside Philly. I'll be attending UC Berkeley come next fall. I'm a pretty technically attuned person, and have started developing games this year after learning to code in java the year before. I'm a pretty avid PC gamer, and I'm pretty into computer hardware, although I don't follow it as intensely as I used to. Fun fact about me: I'm a pretty decent chess player. Big fan of the chess.

I first ran into mechanical keyboards when I was looking for a gaming keyboard back in '09-'10 or so, and stumbled upon the Model M from an article on Dan's Data, I think it was. My buddy bought me one off eBay as a Christmas present, and I was using that for a while. Then I remembered there was a wider variety and went googling late last summer for a mech keyboard guide. I ended up here, but wrote it off. I later came back when I realized I was sitting on a goldmine of an SSK my Comp Sci teacher had given me and wanted some pricing info. Been hanging around ever since, and have tried a ton of boards, settling on Blues, BS, and white alps as my preferred switches.

I can't justify why I should win the skull. I just like the color, and don't have any CCs. I'm posting here mainly because I like that you're using this key to help the community to better get to know one another.

I played video games as a kid, but lost interest through college.  When my wife became pregnant with my son, her biggest symptom was tiredness.  She started going to sleep earlier and earlier and being the good husband that I am I always stayed in by her side.  To fill my time, I dusted off the old games and played back through WC3, D2, CS:S, and then SC2.

With SC2 I started updating the computer to max out the graphics settings.  Once that was done I looked down at my inputs devices.  Still naive, I thought paying much more than $25 for a mouse and keyboard was nuts but luckily, NewEgg and CoolerMaster had slick deal on a CM Storm Spawn mouse.  I picked it up for $20 after an instant and mail in rebate!  I immediately realized the advantages of a well made input device and started looking at keyboards.

Still mostly naive, I ended up picking up a CM Storm Quickfire w/ MX Reds impulsively.  While waiting for it arrive, I did a bunch of research to learn more about what I just purchased which ultimately lead me to Geek Hack.  I was very happy to see how well received this keyboard was and learned so much about mechanical keyboards.  Once it arrived, I fell in love right away and knew I was in for trouble.  Since then i have replaced my work key board with a Rosewill RK-9000 w/ MX Browns and have picked up a old school Genovation number pad with White Apls.

I think I should win the ClickClack for being the good husband who stayed home at nights with his pregnant wife (even if she would fall asleep at 8:00PM) instead going out boozing and causing all kinds of shenanigans throughout town!

In all honesty, I skipped a page or two but did not see the obvious question, "where did you get the CC Skulls in Canada"? Oh yeah, I deserve the cap because I'm really on hard times, no car, no house, no job, can't pay the bills, alcoholic, wife soon to leave ... and this could make it all better. Hell, I don't even own a keyboard.

Seriously, for the group buys i'm in ... I do have a little spare cash lying around. :)

Well, my name is Nate... not too eventful kinda guy. Go to school, come home, do homework, etc.
How I got into keyboards is kinda cool (in my opinion)...I found a Hackaday article where somebody took a Model M and put a USB hub, flash drive, and USB wireless card in there to make the keyboard the ultimate keyboard for virus fixing... so I found Dfj, who isn't too active now, and he sold me my Model M in my signature. I soon after acquired the Zenith from my Grandpa. Finally I purchased my Clears board back in December. So it's been a journey... I also now am a Moderator... I think that I deserve the Click Clack because I believe in the idea of IF I were to ever part with it, I would sell/give it the same way that I acquired it... just to be fair.

You've probably already figured out that my name is Chris and I drive a WRX ;)

I've been into computers ever since I was a kid growing up in the late 80s-early 90s, and I always remembered using the clicky Model M keyboards.  This was the seed planted in my mind that would eventually lead me to GH many years later.  I started building gaming PCs and overclocking 13 years ago and always made good hardware choices except for my input devices.  I was a victim of the rubber dome mass-marketing machine and bought way too many Logitech products.  After graduating college in 2008, the job market sucked and I stumbled across an opportunity to start a small internet resale business with a friend from school.  This led to long hours on the computer, and the rubber dome was killing my fingers & wrists.  I found geekhack, lurked around here quite a bit and decided on my first mech kb, a filco tkl with browns and I instantly fell in love with it!  I didn't register at GH at the time and didn't look around here enough to realize that clickclack was here, but I had noticed CF keycaps at elitekeyboards and was dead set on getting one.  After multiple failed attempts to get one over a span of many many months I finally realized that cc was here at GH and made an account specifically to PM him!  So basically, clickclack's awesome skulls brought me here, I quickly realized that I needed more keyboards and keycap sets, and novelty keys, and more cc's, and now I can't remember if this is real life or am I playing Pokemon?!

At first I was going to abstain from entering for the skull since I already have one + dibs, but then I decided that it would be fun to wear it on a keyboard for a few months before passing it along to a clack-less gh'er! (the giving away of it being the reason I think I am a worthy winner :)

Awesome dude! I have been into keyboards for about a year now and have always failed to get my hands on a CC! I love the community here, whenever I participate in a GB I buy extra to sell in the UK, with any profits going to GH.

Got to give the UK keyboard owners a kick to get things going though!

Oh what to say. Just another average Joe, loving my keyboard.

Guess it started only a few months ago. Decided to build a new gaming rig, and a friend told me to look into mechanical boards. Bought a ducky with black switches. Fell in love. Can't help but spend time and moneyz to pimp the board out. All the while slowly planning to grow my collection. Including a sexy pink race whenever they ship out(hopefully in June). And someday down the road, gotta get myself one of them lovely Topre boards, mmmm yea.

As for clickclacks, just love the look and rarity of them. Saw a sale for them once, no chance at getting one. So I would love the random chance at a freebie!

This has gotta be one of the coolest things one could do for a give-away, cheers Glissant, a hero among men.

Dang I was rolled back!

I have been into keyboards for about a year and now I am obsessed! I have missed out on every CC buy but then I don't think that that makes me special! I would love a CC cap on my board, I am currently starting to buy larger quantities on GB's to sell on here in the Uk with any profit going to GH, I love the community here and want to give something back.

Nice, a fellow norwegian, a kind one too! :)

My name is Tim and I'm 20 years old and studying and working with IT.

I discovered mechanical keyboards through the technology board at 4chan (believe it or not, there's actually valuable information there from time to time!) a long time ago, but haven't bothered really looking into it until recently. I've tried a SteelSeries 6Gv2 and a Corsair MK-85. The reds that MK-85 has was rather nice feel to them, but it was HUUUEG. 6Gv2 looks and feels nice too, but I'm not very fond of the hard MX Blacks. After trying these and mechanical keyboards becoming increasingly popular the last year with more "mainstream" brands producing them I've read more about them and recently bought a Filco MJ2 Ninja TKL with MX Brown which should arrive today.

I think I should win this because shipping and customs (VAT) is expensive as **** here in Norway, so ordering anything like this is much more expensive than it should be. Would not mind one of these at all to test and see if I like it!

I am planning on giving away a midnight blue ClickClack skull after this giveaway is over. That one will only be for people that don't already have one, and it won't be as easy as just having to say a little bit about who you are and why you should win. Look for that one the day that this giveaway ends.

A little update on this giveaway. If everything goes as planned there might be a little extra in it for whoever wins.

Thanks to everyone that has put in the effort so far! It makes me happy to see that people are willing to share a little about themselves.

I see my hidden dt troll post went by mostly unnoticed.

Hey, I'm Nick (http://i.imgur.com/HmQWJ.jpg) (I'm the person rolling my eyes, not the old lady) and I ride bikes to drive cars all day long.

Basically, I'm a glorified car mechanic who rides a bike in Chicago because it's easier than driving to every car I service. I've been an avid cyclist for most of my life, and a computer nerd since I jammed my parents' credit cars into a 3.5" floppy drive. I spend most of my free time lusting after cars I see on Top Gear, playing League of Legends, walking my puppy Pete (http://i.imgur.com/fOQMP.jpg), and hanging out my with girlfriend, April (http://i.imgur.com/SUPmv.jpg) (also an avid cyclist). She just graduated from college, which I dropped out of. We're both happy with the end results, and are getting a place together in a few months.

I got into mechanical keyboards after unknowingly using them most of my life. I had a cherished IBM Model M that I used through most of my childhood (my parents are programmers both, we were a very computer-centric family, and I had my own computer since I was six). It was first connected to my 486, and then my Pentium II with 450mhz and an upgradable Matrox card. They taught me how to build my first computer at 9 or 10, and I built my ultra gaming rig at 12, a Pentium III 1ghz with 256 mb of RAM and a Radeon 8500. God, I thought that was so cool. So cool in fact, that I just *NEEDED* to have a sweet backlit Saitek board. Like a dweeb, I threw my old Model M in the basement for the new hotness that was my new Saitek. Right away, it didn't feel as cool, but I forgot about the Model M in time. I didn't even know there was such a thing as rubber domes and mechanical keyboards, so engrossed was I in new processors and video cards and playing CS 1.3 (then 1.4, then 1.5, then 1.6, etc).

One day, about 10 years later, with the release of SC2, I was watching a lot of SC2 streams, and I started hearing a familiar sound. I asked my roommate Sage (who has been using the same Model M since 5th grade (I kept a close circle of nerd friends throughout my life)), what it was that was so LOUD in the stream. He said it sounded like a mechanical keyboard, and I realized it did sound a lot like his keyboard. I did some research and found out that mechanical keyboards with all sorts of different switches existed and all of a sudden, my dumpstered Dell keyboard seemed very cheap and sad. I wanted to try out a Cherry blue switch board and found a used Blackwidow on ebay for 50 dollars. I pulled the trigger and right away I loved it. Then I got a red switch board, and then a brown, and then another blue, and here we are. I have a board for when I have to work in the office, I have one for playing games, and one for my writing station and one for my girlfriend's house (which I recently discovered she had been using (which is awesome)).

I guess the reason why I think I should win this is because I have a keyset that F2 skull would match perfectly! I already got one recently, but I don't really see myself needing two skulls so I would probably end up selling my current skull (a MX Mint Green) on for the same ridiculously awesome price I received it for ($20 dollars shipped from the magnificent metafour)! But probably only to someone who doesn't already have one.

edit: my alternate reason: IT'S MY BIRTHDAY TODAY! I can't believe I forgot that.

Whoa, I wrote a lot, sorry about that. tl;dr - keyboards keyboards skulls YEAH!

Hi there GH,
Name is Julian, and I am a medical student from Aus.

I first discovered mechanical keyboards and GH while procrastinating during study for an exam last year. I was getting sick of typing my books of notes on a 5yo Microsoft rubber dome. Despite many of Ripster’s comments I went with a ducky and have never looked back. Now days I cant stop singing the praises of Mechanical keyboards, so much so that even my very nerdy friends think Im epically nerdy :D.

Since then Ive spent the last 12 months stalking these boards, wishing I had the money to buy just about everything that pops up (8 years of study leaves the bank rather empty). Epically sad that I missed the Starcraft keys.

So I think I should win they keycap because free is literally all I can afford. One of these is worth close to my weekly food budget :D.

p.s. sorry to be so cheeky as to make my 1st post trying to get free stuff :P.

What happened to the model M, njvz? You can't just tell a story and stop talking about the poor rejected Model M ;). And I actually read everything that is posted. It makes it a lot easier to stay focused when you see that someone has put in the effort.

Distilled, welcome out of the shadows and into the harsh unforgiving light of public posting. It's not cheeky to make it your first post. Some people might get paranoid about having a giveaway like this where people take advantage of me being slack on rules, but if people want to be dishonest in any way to try to cheat their way to a piece of plastic, then more power to them.
I realize that it might sound like I am directing the latter part of my comment directly at you, but rest assured I am just speaking in general terms =).

About two days [strike]Under ten[/strike] left of this giveaway. I am still working on a new one, and I need some help from you guys when it comes to picking the main prize. Head over to this thread to vote (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?31738-Which-ClickClack-skull-would-you-like-to-see-given-away) .
I really shouldn't call the next one a giveaway, since it's more of a contest sort of thing. Oh well.

Wssup, good afternoon to all GHers (it's afternoon here)

My name is Nam, graduated, office workers, blah blah blah effing blah, nothing special to tell about my life.

Except for mechanical keyboards. Why?
Almost my whole life I have been using cheap-azz, dirty, and sucky rubber dome keyboards (mitsumi, logitech, genius, . . . you name it). And that would have remain the same, until one night:
I was watching Mythbusters , Adam and Jamie were doing an experiment about what is the dirtiest thing or whatever similar, and the result is keyboard is the worst, the best kind of worst , much worse than a toilet seat. And I thought "damn, no more ****ty keyboard that I can't even clean". Then I do a search through to get a special, personal (and clean) keyboard. After 2 minutes of searching, and 1 days of reading, I decide that I should get a mechanical keyboard (If you have to do something, better do it thoroughly). And pop, here I am!

Anw, I think I should win the CC keycap becoz I like that blueish color so much; blue, white, blue of white are, and will always be my favorite and lucky color.
End of post.

Hello Everybody,

I really started getting into keyboards around 2009. I was looking for a "gaming" keyboard around that time, and things went downhill from there ;-) One search lead to another, and before you know it, I found my way to GH. Started off lurking, but there was just too much good stuff going on behind the scenes, so I finally made an account just this month. Like most everyone, I started off on a Model M in the 90s. In the early 2000s, I had a Microsoft Wireless Desktop Elite. I got a Steelseries 7g for my "gaming" needs in 2009. More recently, this year I bought an all white Realforce 87U "silent" (87uws-ek) and I am expecting to get a "silent" 87u 10th anniversary in the mail this week that I also purchased from EK.

I was born and raised in the California Bay Area and continue to enjoy my time spent here. When I'm not obsessing over all things keyboard related, I enjoy riding my road bike, reading, and video-games(DIII)....Oh, and beer, you can't forget the beer. I love me some good craft beer!

Go easy on this n00b. I'm hoping I catch some luck and claim my first skull!

Good morning Everybody,

My name is David, I'm a retired Navy Veteran and I love to collect shiny things.  I usually get a little carried away with it.  I've collected Neodymium Magnets (for making those geometric sculptures), World War II battle rifles (M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, Mauser K98, Mosin Nagant [Enemy at the Gate movie] and various other Swedish and Swiss rifles), Miniature Pinschers (They are the same color as Cherry MX switches. I have a Red, two Browns and a Black) and now keyboards.

I started collecting keyboards a few years ago when I found the DAS Keyboard online and thought the blank keys were just the most "uber geek" thing in the world.  The first one was a Keytronic with nice rubber dome switches, but a while later they released the DAS Keyboard II which was a moded Cherry keyboard with MX Blues and blank keys.  That hooked me on mechanical keyboards, so I went in search of more.  I found Diatec and the Filco 104 key Bluetooth keyboard and was obsessed with getting one.  After finding a Japanese buying agent and about two months I had one.  It's still my favorite keyboard.  The DAS Ultimate came out and I got one of those.  Then I found a reference to GeekHack.org in a review of a Filco on Amazon.com while searching for a keyboard around Christmas time and things just exploded out of control from there.

I should win the CC because no keyboard collection is complete without one.

I really shouldn't call the next one a giveaway, since it's more of a contest sort of thing. Oh well.

I was back home two months ago and took some time to dig it up. The IBM was much worse for its stay in a musty cardboard box. It had had a box of books put on top of it, most of the keycaps were popped off or cracked and I'm pretty sure there was about two pounds of dust in the chassis. I don't think it works, but it is sitting in my old room and maybe I'll restore it someday. It's the least it deserves. In the meantime, I have a Model M I bought from bavman and that works superbly. My mother is also developing an interest in mechanicals, and she said she might restore it. She's been hacking since the 80s, so she probably would appreciate it even more than I can. Its story isn't finished yet, but my time with it is probably at an end.

Ok, so a little about myself:
I was born in California (Silicon Valley) and lived there 13 years. Right before I moved to Israel, I wanted to buy myself a desktop rig with the money I had saved up. I saw a thread on Overclock.net about the Ducky mechanical keyboards, and then ripster's links and spamming eventually led me to Geekhack.

I remember reaper/~reaper helping me choose my first ever board, a KBC Poker. I was going to get a Leopold in Browns but they were OOS.
After using the Poker a bit, I decided the form factor was not for me and sold it. I purchased the Filco Majestouch in MX Browns that I use to this day.
But wait, there's more! Upon moving to Israel and a couple of months later (was around January I think) I got bored of MX Browns. I wanted to try out the Reds that were hyped so much in 2011. I bought a CM Storm Quick Fire in Reds for $110 ($50 customs BTW) and used it for a bit... but noticed that: a) the left Alt switch was not working and b) that Reds bored me and were not as fun to type on.
I switched back to MX Browns. I then got a Ducky 1087 in MX Blues from Overclock.net. I immediately did not like Blues and this 1087 is currently pending sale, and I use my Filco to this day.

Keycaps wise, I used stock caps until around November 2011, then I used qtan engraved PBT until April 2012 when I got imsto thick blank PBT.

I would love to win the ClickClack cap because they are so rare around here and so beautiful, and also because I feel like I've been a good seller (no selling for profit off tsangan's novelty buy) and people making bucketloads of profit on their ClickClacks ticks me off because ClickClack puts lots of effort into these. This cap, if it is ever sold, will be done so for the original price (I don't know what that is, but I assume around $5-$10).

Thank you so very much OP for the wonderful opportunity!!! Don't see many generous members around GH. Well done and kudos.

csm

One day my friend decided to run into my desktop and snapped a wireless dongle for my keyboard, sad day. So I bought a sidewinder x4 but I absolutely hated the feel. I stumbled around in internet for a while till I found OCN mech keyboard guide and the rest is history. Not sure how I came upon GH though...seriously can't remember.
I should win the CC because all CC's blue caps are smexy and I must have it :D

All you have to do is tell us a little about yourself, how you got into keyboards, and why YOU should win the skull.
Oh, and before I forget! Post your entry right here in the thread (thanks I3oilermaker).

Hi, I was born in Edmonton, Alberta in Canada but I have lived in Vancouver for most of my life. I remember buying the first modern-age desktop from a Radioshack nearby my home. I brought back the keyboard and was quite content with it even though it was heavy and clunky. To be honest, I thought it was more than a rubber-dome keyboard because it was so heavy. Just about a year ago, I opened up the keyboard to clean it and discovered that I was completely incorrect. This was simply a heavy rubber-dome keyboard.

Even until today, I loved gaming as it is a big hobby of mine. I was looking for a new keyboard that could give me that slight edge in game (silly, I know). I looked at several "gaming keyboards" but eventually I saw a few posts in every forum stating that they feel no different from a regular keyboard. There were always a couple of posters that recommended the Steelseries 7G (the 6GV2 wasn't out at the time). I did some research on how the 7G felt. People thought it was heavy and not ideal for gamers who constantly press their keys. That's when I found GeekHack. I read part of the Wiki and saw that there were a few different types of MX Cherry switches. Initially, I had my eyes set on the MX Browns because I prefer a tactile and slight stroke. Then I changed to the MX Reds because they were super light and smooth. However, after a long debate with myself, I discovered that linears were not right for me. I settled on MX Blues because of word that Browns were mushy. Even then, I didn't know if I wanted to dish out the big bucks on a Filco or Leopold. I waited because I heard CMStorm was coming out with a keyboard. It turns out they released the QFR which was OEMed by Costar. A couple weeks later, I bought myself a QFR. I loved it. Here I am, awaiting on some cash for new keycaps. I saw this thread after browsing around GH and thought, "why not give it a shot?"

Honestly, I don't know if I deserve it more than some of the other forumers here. I probably don't because I'm no where near a veteran and have not provided as much advice of some of the others. I'll just state what I have done. Just about a week ago, I took the time to write out a review of what my QFR was like. Writing the review was fun and I hope some potential buyers found it helpful. Anyways, I don't poach CCs and sell them for a huge gain. I definitely could if I chose to, but I don't see any purpose in doing this because I feel that any profit that is made should be CC's and not a poacher's profit. However, that's personal opinion and I can understand why other people choose to do that. If I by any miraculous chance win this blue CC, I can say that I will not sell it ever. I'll take it as a gift and souvenir because it would be my first ever non-stock keycap.

Thanks, OP.

The first time I heard about mechanical keyboards, which I believe was Starcraft related, I read a mechanical keyboard guide and with little research I soon found geekhack and have been a member ever since. Hi, my name is clickclack and I am a clackaholic.

My addiction to keyboards and keys started a few years ago when I was innocently making a sculpture. This sculpture quickly grew to epic proportions and I needed more, MOAR!!! I found geekhackers anonymous where I was given keyboard related advice and found that I was only hurting myself. Upon this realization I decided to make keys so that others could be hurt as well. There's nothing like hanging out with other clackers clicking away to the bottom of a keywell.

I think I should win a clickclack key because I give and I give (wipes tear). I also think I should win because I'm tolerant (apparently) and I've never been given a clickclack key. Also, it would be funny.

Thank you for your time.

I might be too late, I decided that I was not going to enter this but then I decided that I was going to. so yeah, here goes...

I am Tommy. I live in Minnesota. I am a highschool student, I play with computers for fun, and for money I solder synthesizer circuit boards. My family has always had q few computers, the first computer that was mine was a server that was retired at the university that my dad worked at. I installed a sound and graphics card (It needed neither for the purpose it was used in) and that was my go-to machine until I got my first laptop, after I got my laptop I mainly used the keyboard in the laptop, it never occurred to me to think about the keyboard that I typed on. several laptops later and I was ready to get a desktop again. I built a pc and bought a fancy mouse, then I went into the basement and grabbed a random keyboard, and no, I didn't grab the model m. I remembered that there was a keyboard on my early desktops that felt better than any of the current keyboards and I was wondering what made it that way. after months of rubber dome torture I found the model m hidden in a closet. My dad had gotten it new and it was our main keyboard for a while, it suffered some liquid spills and eventually it stopped working, but having found it I was obsessed with the feel, I did some research found out about the model m, and stopped there, at this point I was about 12. My father, still working at the university, snagged model ms from a friend in the recycling center there. I kept the first one, the IBM one that I still have, and we sold the rest on ebay. I used the model M from then on, though I knew not the name mechanical keyboard, or that there were other switch types. It was later on that I found myself wanting some modern features, I found the Das, and I wondered what was inside it. More research, I found cherry switches, even more, I found that my siig minitouch was mechanical, and then one fateful day at school when browsing the classifieds of another forum during math class, I found someone selling a desktop, he was asked for references and sent a link to his geekhack page. I clicked in deeper as I was curious (I wondered because of the name) and I found that it was the site of my dreams, I didn't know that there were other weirdos like me that cared about their keyboards, I joined, and I immediately felt the wallet suck, I spent way to much money on 'boards and 'caps and saw click clacks. Honestly they never really made me that excited so I was wondering why they are so popular, I am not willing to pay an arm and a leg for one but I want one to see what all the fuss is about. Why I should win it is because if I win I will be able to find out if I like them, if I do I will be hooked, and if not I will host my own giveaway to pass it on!

WRXChris, I did a second click to see if clickclack would have won if I had ignored the first and it actually would have made him the winner. I laughed. My wife now thinks I wasn't listening to her xD.

Missed this thread, but I thought I'd just share my story about how I got into mechanical keyboards because it's kind of nice.

I was worked as a transcriptionist for a deaf student for about 4 months, going to classes with him and trying to write down everything the teacher said so he could understand what was going on in class. Of course people talk way faster than most people can type (I found somewhere that people talk at about 160 WPM but I don't know if that's true or not) so I was trying to find a way to get a little faster so I could help out the deaf student better. I knew about Dvorak which was suppose to be better than Qwerty, and while looking it up found both the Colemak layout, which I've since adopted, and geekhack. Before this time I didn't even touch type properly (though I could still type fairly fast) but now I can touch type great and enjoy the awesomeness that is mechanical keyboards, with some Topre, Cherry MX and buckling spring keyboards.

Hum… YAY ! I suppose.

I only joined this giveaway to talk about myself, I didn't even think that I could win it. But heh, seems I*can be luck too sometimes !

Thanks Glissant xD.

The upcoming giveaway/contest is going to have some really nice prizes. I even have someone else donating something to it.

Keycaps for doing stuff? Hell yes!

By the way. Do you guys/gals think there should be a limit to who can enter in the upcoming contest? I won't exclude people that have key caps or keyboards that are given away. If people want to win it's their own choice ;). BUT I was thinking there might be something that needs to be addressed when it comes to post count/join date.
Let me know if you have any thoughts as to who should be excluded, if anybody.

I think the bare minimum is to exclude the accounts created AFTER you put up the giveaway.

More restrictions are at your likings. You might ask for X months or X posts.

Yeah +1 for post count... that should exclude people with only 1 post from your last giveaway too :D

Are previous entries registered for the next contest, or is it a fresh start?

Thanks

It's a new contest. With a whole different set of tasks to complete :). Still working on it, but will hopefully have time to post it before Thursday. Don't quote me on that though.

May I close this thread, Glissant, since the contest is over?

The contest is over, but still waiting for the winner to post the winnings, and I would also like to keep it open to be able to relay new contest information without having to create a new thread just for that.
