I don't see why the game is so popular though -_-

Multiple users with the same name are allowed. So they use the numbers to differentiate.

Also have a level 5 barb. Have to keep diff chars for diff groups of friends!

Had fun playing with Mr. Reptile for a bit yesterday. WRXChris joined us but I had to run since it was my wife's b-day and I didn't want to get murdered.

And let me tell you... that transition from act II to III is a rough one. If it weren't for my zombie pups accidentally making a wall on a set of stairs, it would have been an insta-wipe on the first quest!

Any monks running dodge build?
Title: Diablo3
Post by: wiredPANDA on Thu, 24 May 2012, 13:45:32
I've ran the dodge build before, but didn't seem like I did enough damage.  Now granted I'm only on Hell, right now, so things may change again once I hit Inferno.

The only thing that bugs me with the dodge build is Dashing Strike with the dodge rune, either isn't working, or the stats page isn't correctly reflecting the increase in dodge.

I've been running the build below to farm/quest in Hell.  Just bought a ton of gear focusing on items that had both Arcane/All Resists modifiers.  Then just focus on skills for dps and let the resists/armor/dodge soak the damage.

Passive(s):
   One With Everything
   Seize the Initiative
   Transcendence

Active(s):
Fist of Thunder ( Bounding Light )
Blinding Flash ( Faith in the Light )
Breath of Heaven ( Blazing Wrath )
   Serenity ( Peaceful Repose / Ascension / Tranquility )
   Seven-Sided Strike ( Sustained Attack )
Mantra of Conviction ( Overawe )

Started a wizard the other day, just hit act 3 around level 25 I think, feels more powerful early on than demon hunter did.

Anyone done much buying and selling on the auction house?  I've started a couple of auctions but no bites, bought a rather epic 1 handed bow for 10k though.

Well it should be in the next patches, but it still opened a can of worms on their "anti-piracy" method using that always online mode.

fiance' and i finally spent time together to play this weekend, played 13hrs straight on sat then a few on sun to finish normal, then started new classes on normal again.
this "gaming" session was too long for me, i had the gaming hives! i haven't gamed this long since i raided 5 years ago. (she kept on pushing, wanting to finish the game)

Started inferno on my monk yesterday. Luckily I had a geared wiz with me as it is quite the gear-check, especially for melee!

It's all about the RES gear, and monks have it easy.

Just stack one RES stat and use one with everything.
At around 400 RES all you can rock inferno act1 NP.

RES all isn't, well when you want regular decent stats as well.

But for the aforementioned Monks, they can stack any single RES they want, some of which are rather easy to find/cheap (Arcane comes to mind as of late).
And using the magical BlizzLovesMonks ability they can set each other RES to match their highest RES.
Insta-win.

Ahh gotcha, I just started a monk lvl 10 so I didn't know the full extent of his stats but that apply to all RES ability is pretty insane.

Crafting is alright, but is the equivalent of a random drop. Only plus is it will be of the slot you want.
When at 60, some of the better rare crafts (from plans) can cost in excess of 80+k gold per attempt.

I got lucky with a chest piece with All RES that a AH for around 350k, but the next 3 attempts after that were all garbage Affixes.

I think DanG unlocked the pony map, I'm not sure all I did was join his game and continue with their onslaught. But I believe it isn't just a one time unlock and you have constant access to the map, you have to refind all the items EACH time you want to join the map.

I agree.  There are so many people that are doing this, and it won't be long before the market get's flooded with gear.  I wish they made it a requirement to have the previous act's boss kill before you could move to the next act.  Would stop all the waypoint tricks to move acts.

Anyway, I've been farming act 1 inferno for a while now as I'm sure a few have noticed.  I've got about 39k dps unbuffed (58kish buffed) and destroy act 1.  Ask WRXchris :)  looking to get near 70k buffed before I move onto Act2.  Feel free to join my runs because I can likely carry at least 1 person through imprisoned angel and butcher.

Why so conservative?
I am farming Act2 (parts of it) on Inferno solo, but I am only barely 22k DPS buffed.
Seems like you _should_ be able to steam roll it with current stats?

What class are you running it with, DanG?

And I'm always up for some Butcher runs if I'm online.  Been clearing it with my monk.  Takes me awhile since monk dps isn't the greatest, but I can get through it easy enough.

Running it duo, may actually keep me from just leveling my WD for awhile.

Running witch doctor on an attack speed and zerg build.  Basically I have to down butcher in the first 10 seconds or I will likely lose unless I can kite him till my cooldowns are ready.

The reason why I haven't moved onto Act 2 is mostly because I'm lazy and high all the time.  I'm just used to the last part of act 1 lol.  I can clear it from imprisoned angel to butcher in sometimes less than 30 min.  I havent found a nice place to go for yet for act 2 that is WD friendly, but maybe someone can chime in here :)

Post by: wiredPANDA on Tue, 05 June 2012, 15:36:13
Think I may need to get on that train.  Pick up some GF and just gold farm.  With the current itemization it seems more practical to just farm the gold and pick up the items you need on the AH.

And DanG - I'm more than willing to help with A2.  I'll bring the tank - you bring the deeps.

I don't think its even wise to try to buy end game items now, patch 1.03 is gonna have new, better legendaries and the price of current ones will drop significantly, so the safest bet is so save gold, unless the real cash AH sells gold for dirt cheap.

Yah. am feeling the monk pain!

I got put onto a new 2h set up for farming act 1.. works a treat.. for pretty much all elite packs (solo).

1000dps(costs me 400k) with 350+ LOH and attack speed. couple it with overawe and sweeping wind and and you can just take them down before they take you.

This totally works re sub par resists (250~). If you are on the ball, and can time your heals and bubble and pots..

I eventually got some new shoulders and bracers.. and now have 10k armour when buffed, (which does far more mitigation than Resists (just quietly) ) and using claw with LOH and shield.

Basically ended up trying to corpse hop act 2.. cost a fortune, and was playing with one of my mates.. who didnt quite get the concept for a while..

Went back to act1 and farmed the ****e out of it.. and didnt die.... new build is dirty.

might post it in a bit.

This was a working strat for me, as I had very crap gear

It depends, the max is 2.5 attacks per second. There are also bugged items, which have "Increases Attack Speed" and won't do anything until its fixed. "Attack Speed Increased" is working fine though.

So without really diving into other forums, because mostly I'm lazy...what is the current consensus on which classes are "best?"

My friend told me:  Demon Hunter = Wizard > Barbarian > Witch Doctor = Monk

I think some of his opinions are biased, but he based "best" on what's currently the easiest class to take through Inferno barring the best gear.

I honestly don't have much experience outside my WD, but I will say this...it's a very micro management intensive class.  For one, you have to keep ALL your skills constantly on cooldown to be able to utilize good mana regeneration without spending millions and millions of gold.  Second, because all your skills are always on cooldown, it's very risky.  You're either zerging through everything, or trying your best to run away with no skills to use.

I'm sure every class has their gripes, but this isn't really a gripe.  Just a simple check if you will, to see how other classes are doing.

Demon Hunter is fun but you need baller gear to be effective, it feels like a good all-round class though once you're geared up.  Act 2 inferno is giving me some grief though, lacuni + wasps = no can defend.  I've got a Wizard in the 40's and she feels way over powered, I'm breezing through parts that were a challenge with my DH, although I already had some decent gear kept aside that I'd found with my other char.  Going to roll a Barb next to try out some melee action.

i'm near complete act2 inferno on my demon hunter and it's tough, basically in the first act i was getting one shotted, so i said f-it, i'm going all offensive. So through upgrades the biggest dps bow i can get is a 960, and i just run through nuking stuff, now i'm focusin on +discipline, it sounds silly to do for gear, but it lets me become invuln, more and longer, so instead of getting lots of gear to survive 2 hits, i just focus on dps and try to get invuln, it works well i think, i just a swarm of those horrible shielding/fast/regen... whatever mobs so i just stand there, have my enchanter (i like her cuz she turns mobs into chickens) do some cc, and i just spam invuln, recover, spam invuln, and nuke it all. Gets fustrating tho, i only play 10minutes at a time since i die so often.

i've now gotten to the point that i take off all my gear except my boots and run around to find the waypoint or where i have to go, ha.

[I'm not really a "Gamer" so be kind]  I just finished "Normal" and started "Nightmare" as a Wizard at level 35.  Is that about typical or should I have completed it much sooner?  I've picked up some good tips here, like 'never stand still while fighting a boss'.

I'm now finding Crafting Pages.  I'm glad there are new things and it not just 'harder'.

I've been so busy with finals/graduation these past few weeks that I haven't been able to play as much as I want. But I was able to farm up quite a bit.

I actually just sold 24 mill @ $11 per mill on the blizz forums. Its absolutely ridiculous the rape prices people are paying for this stuff. Some top weapons are going for $400-600 USD. The most ridiculous part is you can straight up sell on the blizz forums and they don't even care... RMAH is really going to ruin this game. There's a lucrative amount of money to be made if you do it right. I could easily farm 4-5 mill in a day if I had the time. And if it was all I did in the summer, in a day I could probably make closer to 15-20 mill (200-$300).

I wish I had more time to play and I think I would of made $1-2k off this game by now... but sadly I'm going to be spending most of my time in China where I won't be able to play. If anybody wants farming tips/general stuff about DH let me know! Would be glad to help.

My Witch Doctor felt stupidly strong until I got to Inferno Act 2. I farmed aspects in Inferno Act 4 before they patched that, but they feel so weak in Act 2 - apparently WD isn't the only class that feels that way upon entering Act 2 though. It's funny how easily I can farm Butcher with 5 stacks, however Act 2 stomps me.

ugh, this is why i hate getting involved in a game, i try to find more info,

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/5573706514?page=1

there is a link there, about a farmer interview, this is the abridged version (better/faster interview)

tldr (or see video)

farmer tells that ppl are being compromised by using same id/pw on fan sites along with their b.net account which equals hack. he programs a more uber version of the bots that little fishes use, and he wants those fishes out of the game.

look at his video, he just kills the blacksmiths wife, over and over and over for money, ha.

600 million gold = $600, probably more, per hour. Rofl.

Game is absolutely ridiculous... and hackers/programmers are only going to get better at this. It's absolutely ridiculous and people are trying 100 times harder now that there is a RMAH.

I enjoyed the game, and feel like I got my money's worth for $60 but I can't help but think that this game is going to go down the drain quickly.

Boost

re monks and farming act 1 inferno.. this was the set up I changed to http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#WiXgTk!XUZ!cabaca

Using a fat 2h (cost me 400k) has 1k dps 1.2 odd attack speed and +390 Life On Hit (this is what its all about)

found it via this dudes guide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Js0mW3lEzuw

This set up help me solo farm the majority of elite pack and bosses in act 1 with pretty average gear.

the big things on items you need are attack speed (gloves rings) loads of dex (on everything) and armour and vit and start getting 1 resist with resist all on it as well.

you need like 250+ in act 1 without buffs i barely had enough.. so 300-350+ unbuffed and you are going to be a in a way better place.

armour also mitigates more damage up to a point too (I think I heard somewhere that you start getting diminishing returns @ 10k). So bear that in mind when selecting gear.

I have since changed back to dual wield, and have like 500+ LOH. back down to 20k hp atm.. bit scary considering how hard things hit in act1,2,3!

Don't worry, when she gets to Hell and Inferno she'll be getting one shot killed all the time.

I can solo act 1 of Inferno with my wiz, but the first wasp out of town in act two kills me in one shot.  5k armor, 25k health, and 18k DPS.

Yeah, I think that'll be a stronger class late in the game.  For a while I couldn't handle act 4 Hell without playing co-op with a tank.  I was doing a lot of damage, but I couldn't survive long enough to kill bosses.

By the way, if anyone wants help in Nightmare/Hell or wants to brave running Act 1/2 Inferno with me, I'm up for it.  Panoptic#1357

That's actually the same path I took with my characters.  Monk to DH.  To me, each have their pros and cons.  I've recently went back to the monk and re-geared to have some more fun.  DH has the damage, but I get tired being instagibbed all the time.

if you get stuck in a bad spot you're definitely screwed as a DH, but I like being able to actually avoid things and still do damage. as a monk you need to be decked out in resist and hp or you're ****ed. even hell was annoying on my monk but I'm on act IV on my DH with just a couple deaths. some champion packs are just WAY too punishing for melee. that said i'd like to go back to my monk once i can afford decent stuff for it and start on inferno once more.

Now that some time has passed, I'm sure all you level 60's are starting to get geared out.

What are you guys currently farming?  (if you don't mind sharing)  If possible, please try to be a little more detailed :)  (i.e. provide class, gear choices, magic find %, dps, act, chapter, etc.)  I'm looking to try some new things, and I've just been really bored with the game lately.  I know that D3 is really fun to me when I get to play with friends.  And it sucks that I can't easily do that right now with all the terrible Inferno difficulty for multiplayer.

For me, I've been mainly doing Act 2, Chapter 8 (The Black Soulstone) for 2 things:
1)  Goblin farming.  You start the quest, and go to Ancient Ruins waypoint.  Walk right, and the goblin can spawn anywhere from the first platform all the way up to the top of the stairs (right before the checkpoint).  Basically, I go do this over and over for as long as I can take with about 188% magic find, no stacks.  I'm usually pretty lucky with the goblin spawn, about 50-60% over time and my drop rate* is pretty good.  I can get between 1-3 rares typically with every kill; it's rarer that I would get only blues, probably.  However, the gear is just not great, and I'd like to move onto a higher tear farming spot with about the same ease.

I think virtually any class can do this, as long as you have enough dps.  I only have 18,000 dps with full MF gear on.

Video details it better below:

2) I farm 5 stacks from elites and then just port to the last waypoint to fight Kulle.  Port into Black Soulstone quest and you can check for the goblin first based on #1 above.  After you find or do not find him, go back to town and start at an earlier waypoint (easier elites typically and lots of room for kiting) and look for elite packs.  There's a nick in the fence at Canyon something waypoint towards the top left, where you can trap elites and just lock em behind the fence and shoot endlessly.  I kite a lot of elite packs there.  After getting 5 stacks, make your way to Kulle.

For ranged people, there's a trick to this.  All you do is kill the 2 golems, then at just trap Kulle on the other side of the bridge and shoot from max range.  He'll never hit you, just be careful of the tornados that come your way.  Takes me about 20-25 minutes to typically get through a run.  Not bad for yellow farming, I usually get 7-10 pieces through out.

One thing I always try to do is swap out for my magic finding gear right before I kill the last elite mob.
Title: Diablo3
Post by: ekw808 on Sat, 16 June 2012, 16:50:43
I do that goblin farming spot as well, if I you are lucky you get a treasure pygmy instead of a goblin and he has a higher chance of dropping rares I think. My friend told me that he farms hell, he starts off at the Bridge of Korsik in Act 3, he finds the Caverns of Ice, or frozen caverns, there are usually 2-3 elites in there. He just uses that for NV farming, then moves onto the Areat Core 1, kills everything there, goes to Areat Core 2, and the towers, he said he makes up to 240-300k per run, and each run takes him around 40-45 minutes. This is also with gold find gear on.

Lately I have been farming Azmodan on Inferno, with 2-4 stacks of NV, its pretty hard farming those stacks in Inferno so when I'm tired of dieing I go to Azmo, I do around 106k DPS with SS, around 44k without.
Here is a Screenshot of my equips. If you guys have any recommendations for me to upgrade please let me know. I am pretty sure the attack speed on my boots as well as my pants have not been factored into the attack speed number since I think it is bugged.

Mmm between five stack butcher runs (for money and yellows) (gets boring) and goblin farming in act 2 (road to alcarnuss waypoint and ancient path) like dan, pretty bored atm.

Have managed to get some gear from these goblin runs and actually scored a ~200mill ring from just a pile of bones (alcarnuss) and a few other upgrades.. now rocking like 750 resist all w just my buffs.

Just added a few of you (if you're awake) mebbe do some butcher runs or gobby runs.. I can't progress past belial at this stage, and only two of my mates have. so they are off farming siege breaker.

Here's a list of the 1.0.3 changes:  http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/19/diablo-3-servers-back-online-1-0-3-patch-makes-significant-chan/ (http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/19/diablo-3-servers-back-online-1-0-3-patch-makes-significant-chan/)

There are definitely more rares dropping.  Haven't tried act II yet which is supposedly easier (thankfully).  It cost me 32k to repair my barb when my gear was at about 25%.  Yikes.  If they actually fixed the retarded difficulty curve, this shouldn't be much of an issue because i'm an OP tank in inferno act I.

Sigh, my WD's dps went down from 46k to 32k.

2.80 IAS to 1.99.

What build should I use now?

I can't imagine taking the time to go through the game again just because my character took a nerf. I'd rather look for alternative ways to be competitive in Inferno.

Also, took this snapshot a few days ago.

The thing for me wasn't damage...its the attack speed which calculates true dps and not just damage.  Even though my damage was lower than DHs, my attack speed was typically higher allowing me to keep up a little better...plus for.kiting and microing the attack speed is HUGE

So the new drop rates seem to have ruined (fixed?) the AH economy.  You can get 1000+ DPS weapons for like 50k gold now, and there's a ton of 1400+ weapons in there.

I run through Act 2 solo with about 30k dps unbuffed (and upwards of 38-39k buffed) with little to no trouble.  Maybe I'll die a few times, but yeah...not too terrible.

Title: Re: Diablo3

i've not logged in  well over 3 weeks now... and i honestly don't think i'm motivated to do so until  the legnedary items are sorted out.  i'm so far behind on the economy that there's no way i can participate in the auction house simulator without dumping time i simply don't have into it.  i need a game that i can pick up and play when i can afford it... and this game simply no longer meets that criteria.  i'm stuck right now, and i need either refined skills or new gear, and i don't have the appropriate combo of time/patience to do that.

that being said... i'm actually really looking forward to Torchlight2.  i loved the beta play time i had, and think it might actually better suit me right now.

funny enough, path of exile is getting another beta weekend... but i'm not the least bit interested.  at least they're open about the pay-to-play nature of the game, and when i did play, it was clear that it was still possible to progress (slowly) without paying.

Post by: absyrd on Tue, 24 July 2012, 08:11:47
Oh yeah. I forgot I even pre-purchased Torchlight 2. If it is anything like the first, it'll be a lot more fun because of the crazy assortment of drops and altogether less hardcore-grindy than Diablo.

It's hard to match the hype that came along with it; unless they had a longer story line, I'm not sure where else they could have improved. (pvp will come eventually, and they will be making the game easier) But they also had to try to make a game that could last as long as D2 which was pretty difficult if not impossible.... Starcraft 2 was different, starcraft 1 wasn't even being played to its' full potential yet, but Diablo 2 was pretty beat to death. Harder bosses?? More quests?? What else could have blizzard added to make the game more worthwhile??
