Title: Stem Question
Post by: jcrouse on Fri, 01 June 2012, 07:44:18
I am looking for a bunch of cheap stems for cherry MX switches, a couple at first for testing an idea and then probably 250 or so. All I really care about is that a Cheryy MX cap fits on them, color / sytle is not important. What would be the best way to obtain these, a WTB post in the classifieds forum or is there a place that sources new stems at a reasonable price, say .08 or .10 cents, something like that.

Thank you,
John

yea a wtb would be your best bet, or to harvest from used/cheap cherry boards

another option is to buy individual keyswitches from mouser

http://www.mouser.com/Cherry-Electrical/Electromechanical/Switches/Keylock-Switches/_/N-5g2uZ1z13w7p/

you can basically figure out which ones are blue/brown and black.

If all that matters is keycaps fitting, you can often pick up lots of G81 MY boards for very cheap on ebay ~$7/board.

Now, that suggestion has some merit. Can anyone provide a pic or 2 of the back side of a Cherry MY stem. Not the cross (that goes in the cap) but the other end with the stem actually removed from the switch?

Thank you,
John
