I was playing Diablo 3 last night in a trance-like state, when a glass of water decided to tip over on it's own (don't use warped cork coasters, lesson learned). Fortunately, it mostly missed my newly modded Filco ergo clear, but my mouse took a direct hit. The mouse stayed plugged in while I tended to the keyboard and the spill, and by the time I got to it, Windows had be-doop'ed (USB disconnect sound, lol), and I assumed it was a goner. The optical sensor's LEDs were also very dim. The mouse was not responding at all. I unplugged it and started shaking water out of it (there was quite a bit), and left it overnight to dry. Plugged it in this morning, and was very surprised to find that it works like new!
I'm posting this as a testament to the CM Storm Spawn's awesomeness, and as a glimmer of hope for anyone else that ever finds themselves in this situation!

With Cherry, there is never a problem with water.
Gold-contacts don't rust!

I am happy there is a survivor!!! :)

Cooler master has been impressing me a lot lately with their product quality. That may be my new mouse once this one dies.

As a fellow spawn owner this makes me happy :D

Never say never... Tap-water and especially mineral water could have some (you guessed it) minerals in em! As the water evaporates this junk can stay behind to cause damage (acting as sanding material) or to cause contact problems. Chances of this are slim to none, but still never say never!
Generally its a great rule NOT to throw liquids over electronic devices, be it intentional or by accident. And like any machines, do not operate computers in trance-like state....

I see you've never played any of the Diablo games ;)

I was a huge D2 fan (always had at least a couple ladder chars) until the whole duping episode started, i play D3 on a regular basis but its for some reason not as appealing to me as D2, maybe cuz of how the skills work (its just stupid that everybody can use any skill at any time, with D2 you at least had to plan ahead and pick your skills carefully, people who were good at that had the most awesome chars). But maybe it has to grow on me or something.

I'll agree, somehow I'm not as drawn to D3 as D2, maybe need more time. I also have a CM Storm Xornet (not exactly same but close enough), I do agree CM Storm is pumping out quality products lately. I was so close to buy the QuickFire Rapid except I use the number pad a lot so I can't go with tenkeyless.
However lately I'm very tempted to try Logitech G9X (another good claw mouse). Anyone have any experience with it? Or I'm better off with my Xornet?

Hey Chris don't drown my double shots!
My opinion of the mouse is that you should stick to the xornet unless you need over 3000dpi. No point in the g9x over what you have. The g9x is 3x the price too.

Good to hear it still works!

A spawn respawned!
Glad to know it works... we are doing our best to bring you quality products.

You are doing an excellent job, keep it up!! The Spawn is my favorite mouse I've ever owned! Haven't used a QuickFire Rapid yet, but clearly you guys brought some significant value to the mech keyboard market. A Hyper 212+ cools my CPU, and my rig resides in a HAF X case! Stay awesome! :D

I spilled water once on one of those newer white apple keyboards and it died. I just threw it out. It was a piece of crap anyways.
