Hi, i'm french,
I buy recently a great white pbt Noppoo Choc Mini; i have no problem of layout on windows seven,
but i'm using ubuntu principally for my work, and i don't know how to map the specific 84 keyboard with usa ansi layout. It's seem impossible with the keyboard tool in configuration panel into ubuntu 12.04
I need to use xmodmap in this case ? and if it is the the case, anybody have some template (txt; dotfile) to share with me ?
Thansk a lot for your help;
SR

how does the layout tool of your ubuntu work with another keyboard?
Is the problem specific to the noppo?

No i don't think it's specific.
With any another keyboard with only 84 key, i can choose localization and organization of key .. So i have no choice, it's a standard USA layout with numerical keyboard like this

I'm using a Choc Mini on Ubuntu 11.04 (not 12.04) right now, and it mostly works with the "Generic 101-key PC" layout. The fact that it doesn't really have 101 keys doesn't hurt. (The only thing that doesn't work is the caps lock *indicator*, although caps lock behaviour is fine.)
If that doesn't work, could you give us some more info about the problem you're experiencing?
EDIT: it's possible that this post (http://askubuntu.com/questions/149530/how-to-share-two-keyboard-on-the-same-laptop-french-iso-layout-and-usa-ansi-lay) is also from the OP. In that case the problem is more complex than he describes here in this thread. Probably the solution is to go to Keyboard Preferences and add a second layout, to have one for French and another for US.
