Because I have a new girlfriend. She doesn't know about the keyboards yet (Shhhh).
I will report back later and let you know how it goes.
I would like to thank input nirvana for all of his advice on girls.

Finally.
What's THAT supposed to mean.

What's THAT supposed to mean.
The important thing...is to realize...it absolutely doesn't matter what it means/doesn't mean. Got it?
:)

What's THAT supposed to mean.
Only joking, love.

Why would anyone be ashamed to admit they use superior quality peripherals?

People tend to give you funny looks when you tell them you're into keyboards. Just goes with the territory I guess.
-
Here is a theory-ish:
When I have mentioned it to peeps I've interacted with for a while...maybe because of the type of person I am...peeps are pretty interested. Then when they see a pic of a Kinesis Advantage, they become more interested. That's been my experience. Some of it is because that particular keyboard is so different looking it somewhat justifies the added interest.
-
Every time I've told people about mechanical keyboards they think it's cool and get interested in them. I guess I'm less concerned because everyone already knows I am a complete "geek" already (because of my day job and other hobbies/things in my house). The only people I've found that reacted negatively to it were people I didn't want to bother talking to already. I gotten several completely normal friends to switch to mechanical and not a single one of them regrets it. They don't go collecting keyboards like I do, though.
-
being interested in keyboards is no different than a passionate home chef that spends hundreds, if not a few hundred (for shun or henkel) knives. There's no doubt to me that there's a difference, but some just don't care. (altho they say that a dull knife is the reason why there are kitchen accidents rather than a sharp knife)
-
Awesome work! My girlfriend has stolen my Pure already so I wouldn't worry about the keyboard thing.
-
I'm still trying to get my girlfriend to warm up to the hobby and she's fairly uninterested in it.
Maybe I should get her one of those fancy flashing Duckies. Girls like shiny lights, right?

Things have been improving steadily for me after all my stupid trauma/drama so I threw myself out there about 2 weeks ago, not caring what happened, and I'm getting (almost) flooded! I had to stop the flow just to manage what I got. 2 I'm very interested in and have daily contact, another 2 the contact is also daily, but my interest is not strong, and one the contact is a couple times a week, and my interest is potentially strong. None know about keyboards yet...so I'll conduct the following tests to see what happens:
The mechanical keyboard, and keyboard mods...(since that's my "thing") will be presented under these conditions-----
1) Girl is INTO me....
2) Girl has gotten the flat response from me...
3) Girl has gotten the "I want to be friends" convo from me...
4) Girl is maybe interested, but definitely 'shopping around'
I'll be able to have the answers in 2-3 weeks....anyone want to place any bets?
-
Experience on this, says don't make bets on such things...
-
I'm joking about the betting of course....but I'll still post the results.
-
Uh-oh.
I'm possibly smitten by a touching soul.
I hope she supports the whole keyboard thingy, or this may be uncomfortable.
Cute as all hell, sweet as sugar, motivated and energetic...if she's all-loving...we may have a winner!
