Do want :D
VIM Clutch is a hardware pedal for improved text editing speed for users of the magnificent VIM text editor. When the pedal is pressed down, the pedal types "i" causing VIM to go into Insert Mode. When released, it types and you are back in Normal Mode.

That would make vim+poker so much easier!

meh, it's great for esc, but I don't use i that often.
r, R, o, O, a, A, I are usually way more usefull.
-
Agree. 'a' is probably my most-used entry into insert mode.

Somebody edited his message :P
But I'll buy one to hook up to esc I thinkk

Whether it would be useful to me or not, its a totally clever and awesome solution.
I want one too! Maybe just to launch new consoles.

I edited it within seconds of posting it. Misread the comment I was responding to.

personally, meh. vim is generally pretty conducive to foot pedals though, since it's modal, so cool regardless.

wow that's a cool gadget... can you macro the pedal to do whatever you choose?

It's pretty easy, if you use CTRL_[ ... That's actually faster to reach than Esc, if you ask me. :)
Or you remap Esc to be on left CTRL, and CTRL to be where CapsLock is. That one is useless anyhow, and it makes CTRL a lot easier to reach. And it's cool that you can karate-chop your Esc! That's what I do when I did something stupid in ViM, or when I successfully finished an annoying part. :D

I may buy one of these so I can program the foot pedal to a key like scroll lock or insert so I can use it for voice chat programs push to talk.
I tried to do the same thing with my griffin powermate but it will only emulate a single key press instead of an actual key press and depress.
