Because I didn't realize my poker had the arrow lock on, and so my password (which includes a capital letter) was wrong repeatedly. So someone entertain me while I have nothing to do for a half hour.

nevermind, that didn't take long. Yeah I was using tapatalk. You couldn't tell, because I'm not an ******* with the tapatalk signature turned on. and I don't think I could've done a stupid reboot because my domain account is the only user account on the computer i have access to, and I probably can't make a new one, at least without accessing my old one.

half hour lockouts are stupid. Anything more than 5 minutes just wastes company time. No hacker will keep trying with even a 5 minute lockout.

I expect it wasn't a half hour automated lock out... He was just not expecting support to respond within 30minutes to reset his password.

I actually don't have a stapler. I have need for a stapler 0% of the time. I'm a software engineer, everything I do, I do digitally. even jotting notes i do in notepad++.

Haha...I remember when our IT thought that 3 strikes was good enough. If you got locked-out, you had to open a trouble ticket. What sucked is that our proxy also required a login. So when password changing season came, there was a fairly high probability that I would get locked-out. I was an outcast using Linux and back then the proxy settings weren't all neat and tidy in 2 or 3 places. it was in a dozen places. :p
Later they added a 4 hour auto-reset. FOUR HOURS! Luckily, those idiots are gone. No more proxy login and a 30-minute lockout that I don't even hit anymore (because of the former). Now lots of people use Linux. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD?!?!?

Well, even the supposedly smart people screw things up. Where I work they've been working on SSO (single sign on) across the board forever. Since we're still on the way there I have 1 VPN password on a 90 day change rotation, a unix password on a 135 day rotation, a Windows password on a 180 day rotation, and then there's the SSO password which works on most webapps which is supposed to be on some sort of rotation, but it stopped happening at some point without an announcement.
Then to top it all off sometimes when you tell it to change the password it fails, but it does reset the rotation counter. And there's a post rotation counter of 5 days for some reason where you can't change your password again. So you end up with the same password and don't remember to change it until the rotation comes around again.
bleh... password management sucks

The new kiosks at Arby's have fingerprint readers, but none of us have had our fingerprints taken... At least I've had the same employee number and password for nearly 4 years.

I had a laugh at the mention of "password changing season". I worked at a place that closed for 2 weeks, for Christmas / New Years...talk about password FORGETTING season! I'm in IT, and we would get a ton of calls that would get transferred to us, because the place used Lotus Notes, and the password reset on the domain doesn't work as a password reset for your email :P That was fun!
