Title: Loose keycaps from o-ring mod
Post by: Amo on Sun, 24 June 2012, 14:34:35
I recently got a Noppoo Choc Mini with MX Reds and put some O-rings on the keys. Now the keys are really loose and pop off. They don't pop off during normal use, but if I run my hands across the board several keys pop out. Is there some secret method to putting the keys back on the switches?

Here is an image of the o-ring on one of the keycaps. The o-ring I used was 3/16" thick and covers half of the stem. I get the feeling that the switches aren't fulling seating in the stem and that is making them wobble and pop off.

The oring is way to big.

Where did you find those?

It was one of the options on a group buy a couple of months back. I just found it on a website that sells o-rings, McMaster-Carr (http://www.mcmaster.com/#as568a-o-rings/=i4cfu2). I want maximum key travel reduction and these were the thickest. Plus I saw a youtube video of a guy who put them on his poker.

Update on the issue, I put 1-2 layers of saran wrap between the keycap and the switch and the problem was solved!
