Title: [IC] "Paw" Fundraiser Keycap
Post by: demik on Thu, 19 July 2012, 13:18:13: Well, I wanted to do this on DT.. but I dont know if they would have been happy with me running a GB on their forum so I saved it for when we got back to GH.

Anyway, it's simple. I want to raise money for an animal rescue in Los Angeles. It's called hope for paws (your can visit their website here. (http://www.hopeforpaws.org/).. just watch the fiona video and you'll understand) They do incredible work, and it's a two person team IIRC. A guy and his wife. This man has spent hours trying to capture a dog in the desert. Has traveled to Florida and as far as Israel to help out animals. He truly deserves all the help he can get. He's also a non profit, so he survives on donations.

This is what I was thinking:

but with White Legend + Red Keycap

Either that exact image (need to see if I can use it without any problems) or something very similar.

Keycaps will be 3 for the first, 2 after the first.

Shipping will be 4 CONUS/Canada and 6 international. ALL proceeds (minus w/e I use for shipping) will go to Hope For Paws under the geekhack name.

Anyway, let me know if any of guys would be interested in it.

I'd be interested in paw prints if they were just a paw, could branch out to other animals also and I would be interested. Eg, horse shoe, bird feet etc. However, no interest if it has writing on it.

little too expensive with front print. it would defeat the point of the fund raiser if a ton of the money will be going towards the product and not the organization.

I don't understand why alternate images are still being debated. If i3oilermaker is okay with using that generic paw image that's on millions of coffee cups, bumper stickers and any number of other products then I don't see why the original design can't go forward. I love the orange. The black and white ones are great, too. I'll buy some of any color that's producted though. I have four adorable little Min-Pins, three of which are "rescues," so I'm all in for anything to benefit animals.

You just have to keep your eyes open for some thread in the groupbuy section with the words "groupbuy","Taking Orders" and "Paw" or sth similar in the topic, which will hopefully open soon when demik has got time to do this and/or when there is enough interest.
Demik stated several times that this will happen for sure, so we might only have to stay frosty for some more days.

And btw, the pictures of this cap look amazing, trust me :D

Maybe if the paw print were oriented sideways rather than up and down someone could design their own path across the keyboard. Might look funny for a single key though ... just an idea.

Key profiles might make this too difficult/expensive though since the cat would be stepping on different rows. (somebody with more knowledge please assist)
