Title: What is a good mini USB-Keyboard (!no! wireless thingie)
Post by: mcc on Sun, 22 July 2012, 13:26:49
Hi,

to my Linux minicomputer (fits into an Altoids Tin box) I want to add a mini usb keyboard.
I like to type on IBM model Ms, but unfortunately these boards were never build to fit into
a pocket... ;)
Since I want to avoid another set of batteries to carry with me, this board should be connected
via good old wire-based USB.

And it should not eat power like the IBM model Ms...

What keyboard would you recommend?

Best regards,
mcc

I doubt you're going to find a wired mini KB that's as mini as your computer.  Nearest you are gonna get is a full-size board w/ less keys.  Needless to say there's plenty of advice on those all over here.

I think the smallest keyboard on the market right now are the poker keyboards.

Hi,

thanks for the replies ! :)

I watched a review of the Poker keyboard on youtube but what I cant figured out (I couldn't understand everything the
reviewer said...I am no native English speaker...) is: Is this keyboard clicky and taktile?
What I dont like are the many leds eating unecessarily power from the LiPos of my minicomputer...

Anything else?

Yeah, the LEDS are kind of a pain in the ass. I'm not sure if it's mini usb, but the next smallest keyboard I could find is http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=119

Usually, you want to look at mechanicalkeyboards.com to find keyboards. It has the best search function of any mechanical keyboard site I can find. They are out of stock of a lot of keyboards, but you can use that as a guide and find them somewhere else. Good luck, and happy hunting :)

You can get one of the cherry G84 keyboards. They are much thinner than a poker, and are pretty small. I enjoyed typing on mine, and used it daily for some time.
