Ergo clear = MX clear stem + MX brown spring

It's got more tactility than the brown but requires less force than a normal clear

Ghetto Green = MX blue stem + MX black spring

It's sounds like a blue but requires more force than a normal blue, and is exactly the sane as a MX green

I preferred ergo-clears. There was a topic not long ago where someone had a leopold in clears and something else with blues, and swapped the springs. I've tried ergo clear and green (I think) and I preferred both to normal blue/clear as well.

Of the two, I liked ergo clear better.

There are other mod switches available, like "ghetto red" which used black stems and blue/brown springs. Most aren't as popular, though.

blue, red, and brown springs are the same weight.  I wish there was a lighter spring, I agree that a lighter blue might be nice.  Anyways, ergo clears are my favorite tactile switch.

I think real greens are heavier than ghetto greens (blue stem + black spring).

Experts, correct me if I'm wrong.

IMO I'd like to try Ergo-Clears but I can't find any stems :(

yeah there used to be a steady strem of mx clear g80's on eBay for ~$40 shipped, but I guess the seller ran out.  Cue supply and demand curve.  Something tells me the 7500 MOQ for cherry to start producing ergo clears isn't a far-fetched fantasy.

Sorry to get slightly off-topic

I wish 7-bit could sell just stems, not the whole switch. I still might buy switches from him and do a swap.

It would be more expensive.  I'd say a lot more.

This is why I wast to get like a million of the lighter springs. I have three WYSE 'boards worth of black springs, but I prefer reds. I have a ton of clears incoming, but I want ergo clears. I estimate that I'd want maybe 400 lighter springs. Now I'm selling my Cherry blue keyboard to my room-mate, so there's no possibility of swapping to make ergo clear & Ghetto green.

We really need to get some custom springs is the USA here. IT wolud make ergo clear/ghetto green mods a lot easier.

this is something i had committed to doing a while back (not that anyone could prove it, those posts are long-gone with all my discussion regarding spring weights), but there's a spring manufacture just down the street from my office.  i now have all the different cherry springs in hand, and just need to review the requirements with the manufacture.

the problem is, it's really low on my priority list, and there's some pretty high priority items on that list (like moving, again... 5th time in 3 years now).

my idea was something in between a brown/red/blue and a black... something that would provide just enough resistance that we don't have issues with the clear stem hanging up on a light spring.  i'm not interested in heavy springs, and think that blacks and clears are heavy enough... for me anyhow.

i was also curious about the possibility of a progressive spring, but i've not explored this at all.

But if they were custom springs they would be something else.  Lighter or heavier than red/blue/brown springs?

God could you imagine sorting a million springs?

sorting... no, but they're typically done by weight.

That was probably mine:

If you get worn stems for your ergoclear, be sure and give it a proper lube job (hehe). The tactile bump on clears, combined with the low force spring of the brown can sometimes have a few of your less worn stems stick in the down position.
