Just got my first mechanical, and I absolutely love the feel of it (CMstorm trigger). I've done a lot of reading about the Filco w/ browns having a nicer feel than other keyboards, and I'm curious if anyone has compared these boards. Looking to get one for work as well as home.
-
I have a Filco w/ Browns and a Rosewill w/ Browns - They both have the same SP PBT Caps.
The feel similar (The switch itself should be identical) but I do think that the Filco feels a little bit better. Hard to quantify, but maybe its just a more solid build.
-
I have been wondering this too. I will be buying my first mechanical KB and wonder if the Filco is worth twice as much, especially for a first mechanical.
-
The trigger and Filco both come out of the same manufacturer (Costar)
-
You are probably thinking of the CMStorm Quickfire Rapid. It's nearly identical to the Filco 87 design and made by the same manuf. The Trigger does not look like a Costar board.
-
looks can be deceiving
Costar board.

So why does it have Cherry stabs?

Cherry stabs are required if you are doing backlighting.

Not for long! As i said, we are building boards to please YOU

How so?
If the switch is arranged like in the picture the LEDs won't interfere with the metal bar, right?
I agree if I were to add LEDs to my Filco (which switches are positioned "right") it would interfere with the metal bars.
Or am I missing something?

Care to elaborate?
I like the QF Rapid more and more and will definitely buy one in the future.
Will the EU prices remain the same?
$80 in the US, 90€ ($112.85) for the EU. No shipping included. Why such a price difference?
I know it's general behaviour to make computer hardware prices 1:1, but more (in naked numbers) in a stronger currency?
If you compare the prices for the mouse Xornet ($30 to 20€) the ratio just seems fine...

The switch itself interferes with current Costar stabs if rotated. The led interferes if you rotate the stab or don't rotate the switch. On the other hand if CM got Costar to design a new stab that is LED friendly then... WOOHOO.
-
Oh yeah, I didn't think of the off-center housing of the switch.
I feel pretty dumb right now :/
But yes, new Costar stabs which allow LEDs would be a nice improvement.
