Title: A question about SP PBT and KBC PBT, any different?

Any different between SP made PBT caps and KBC made PBT?

I mean, consider the thick ,height, size etc.

Can people own both tell me about this?

SP PBT caps are lower profile (height) than KBC PBT caps.  They are very similar in thickness, the SP cap may be slightly thicker but I don't have a micrometer to verify.

KBC cap is black, SP is brown.  Both caps are R4.

KBC also has thick and cherry profile PBT key caps ...

imsto can produce thicker cherry profile PBT caps. he has never branded them as KBC afaik.

i do have a micrometer, and iirc the KBC and SP PBT caps are both about 1.0mm thick (+/- reasonable tolerances)

Seems the SP caps lack the nice texture of the KBCs :(

I don't know about KBC's PBT, but SP's PBT is certainly quite nicely textured. I have a whole 'board with it that I used every day for a long while, and SP's PBT was more than adequate.

It's the texture that counts

On the image they look smooth/non-textured,
perhaps just the top of the cap is textured?

Yep, only the top of SP's PBT keycap is texture, same with the ABS cap I think.

Where do you find this brown SP PBT cap? I see the text on it, so is it dye-sub PBT? Have never seen any group buy on the brown dye-sub PBT.

Btw, I have a PBT dye-sub keyset from SP, and the texture on it gives me very nice feeling and may be as nice as the texture on topre's caps. The texture on KBC PB,T in some ways, feels like the SP ABS,  rougher than SP PBT.

It looks to be the same color as the dyesub Pedobear keycap.
