Title: CoolerMaster/cmstorm Support Sucks bigtime
Post by: shogrran on Sun, 29 July 2012, 14:20:22
I initially was happy with the quality of the cmstorm quickfire rapid keyboard. I recommended it to friends and forums but I now realize that it's not only the keyboard that should be considered in purchasing but also the quality of the support from the company itself.

And I hope there is a CMStorm representative out here still that will read this thread because your global warranty and support is lower than low. I discourage anyone from buying their products from here on out specially if you live in remote areas.

I bought my cmstorm qfr in Singapore as they do not offer brown switches here in the Philippines. And at first it performed great. But suddenly the keyboard now spams random keys when pressing three keys at once. My theory is the detachable usb cable has some issues. (why? Because the same set of keys spam when I move the cable a bit) Anyway I sent CMStorm an email and guess what? They won't help me out, because they say that I have to bring the keyboard back to Singapore. Take note of this... CMStorm has a local distributor right here where I am just a train ride away from where I live. They can't even channel the support for this keyboard to a local distributor.

Why am I so disappointed with that? I have received TOP NOTCH global support from other companies (Fractal design to be specific) for a simple 14USD fan. And I can't get sh*t for a 95$ keyboard?

Thank you for reading my rant.

That would suck, I know how it feels to travel to the US every time a product ordered through an american retailer fails.

PS. the dollar sign goes in front

Yeah nothing beats Logitech when it comes to customer support, too bad they don't make mechanical keyboards yet :(

You usually only get warranty service in the country you purchase it in. Companies in different countries are usually separate entities (importers, not subsidiary). Do you really expect them do service your board when they didn't make a dime from you.

The answer is YES I expect them to. That's the whole point of being called CMStorm company. They're not called CMStorm I and CMStorm II. They are ONE company. That's the whole point of being a customer -- customers don't bother with the internal processes that are within the company, including the manufacturing all the way to the shipping all the way to the logistics. That is included with what gets paid for not only the physical product that you get. That is the whole point why the whole capitalism system works, we don't want the trouble and all the costs and risks of making our own stuff, so we pay others to do it even at a profit.

I gave an example of a Fractal design 14 dollar fan that didn't work when I bought a case. I contacted fractal internationally and they immediately asked for a proof of the problem, and a shipping address. They didn't even ask me to send it back (they just asked me to break one of the fan blades. I guess that's to ward off the scammers.) Again.. that is just for a 14 dollar fan, and I call that good if not the best service.

How hard is it to channel your support to different parts of the world through your distributors? You ship your products to them anyway... they ship other returned products to you too. Make your system like a money transfer system. Do you think the money that was deposited in western union in the U.S. is the same money that was given to the receiver in Australia? NO. It's not even a new process and not implementing it today as a company that offers their products to many areas in the world is just plain outdated. For a company that is related to computers they should be insulted.

I started this thread. Get over it. Read other threads.

Seriously, I don't have anything against your opinion since this is an open forum thread. But if all you have to say is "Get over it" why even bother replying to a forum thread? Actually why even be IN a forum.

When  a company is giving me problems in regards to helping me I usually tell them I have spent a thousand or more throughout my life on their product or products they sell (or mention a thing or two that is expensive that they make that you own). I own a lot of electronics and consistently buy from a select few retailers, and usually stick with specific product companies. I remember Newegg gave me some problems so I told them I spend thousands on office supplies and personal products from them a year (which is true), and like magic they decided to do anything I asked of them and stopped giving me the run around. This may be a tactic you can mention to Cooler Master especially if you have purchased their other products. I rarely have to do this , Newegg and Logitech are the only companies I can currently remember helping me more when I revealed that I bought a large amount of their products.

Precisely.  I buy things from the US all the time and understand that I will not get warranty service out here.  That is life.  Lesson learned.

Well, I don't purchase that much. But I do buy quite often. For a starting company in the gaming field CMStorm is really bull**** customer service. I will take note not to recommend their products to every thread I see.

I bought a Steelseries Sensei from a local retailer here in the Philippines. When I had a problem with it, I contacted international support. And they immediately analyzed the issue, gave me troubleshooting steps and provided me an RMA code. All I have to do is to ship them back my mouse to a U.S. address. That is, if not the best, GREAT international customer service.

Now how is that different from what CMStorm can do for their products world wide?

What this incident tells me is that CMStorm started selling their products world wide WITHOUT the backbone to support the products.
