That Scrabble keyboard...I've read a page or two on modding a board into one...and I rather like the idea and look...as well as 'steam-punked' variants too...

...and the  the Lego Rubik image you posted...well...yes I should have known...was thimking complete Lego build instead of just a surface mod...still looks pretty good though.

...and, Tex...your quote "Some folks seem to think like you."...well...I always knew there were some bright sparks here on GeekHack.

I know a person who has an 11x11 rubik cube. He can solve it too.

An 11x11 Rubik..one for every dimension (acording to some theories)...and he can solve it too...geeze!!!...

Does this friend of yours consider Stephen Hawking's "A Brief History of Time" to be light-reading material?

Is your "friend" a computer running a simulation app?

FYI, I can solve an 11x11.... if it's only a few moves from completion.

Once you know how to solve a Rubik's topology, the solution is the same for however many units in the cube; only the time-to-solve changes.

Practical 11x11 cubes don't exist. The largest stable cube you can purchase is 7x7. The reason for this is because the edges of the cube will fall out, because they are too small to be held in by adjacent layers. This is why the 7x7 cube is round.

11x11s are usually either custom built or made in Hong Kong and are generally unstable (pieces will fall out).

And yes, higher donomination cubes just take a long time to solve. One only needs to know how to solve 4x4s and 5x5s. Higher denomination odd/even cubes only have a few special algorithms that 3x3s do not.

Unfortunately, special algorithms are also necessary to solve oriented cubes (centers must be facing the right way) and numbered cubes (they can have ambiguous, identical pieces that need to be in the correct spot). I don't think that keyboard cube is ambiguous, but it definitely has to have oriented centers, which is a nightmare to solve.
