If it goes above $50 I'd just buy it directly from Unicomp. The seller agrees with me that the Unicomps ARE a bit quieter.
$69 from Unicomp. (http://pckeyboards.stores.yahoo.net/customizer.html) Unicomp's website NEVER changes. Amazing.
Hey, would it be possible to ask unicomp if they could put one of their IBM LED badges instead of the unicomp one?

Yes. Externally, they are an exact copy of the IBM's AFAIK. Why would you want to though, that Unicomp logo is the schiznit! ;-)

My old unicomp customizer 101 (Ordered around 2005), actually had the IBM style LED labels. (They were also on the bottom side of the label rather than the top)
So they've done it in the past; i don't know if they still do.

Yes and no. The most authentic label you could get is a label from a 42H1292. The older style wouldn't fit.

It's to do with the positioning of the controller in the 42H.

Could you do a case swap to turn a PS/2 model M into USB? :)

It would work with the 42H, but I'm almost certain that a Unicomp internal wouldn't fit inside an older style Model M.

You know, I've got to wonder if keyboards like the M5-2 also got different controllers when the 42H came out.

In regards to LED labels. Unicomp will sell you non-logo'ed labels if you ask. (I have a stack of them I got from Unicomp about a year ago)
