Wow, breast cancer awareness pool balls.  Is it possible for the world to be any MORE aware of breast cancer?  I think the awareness thing is getting a bit played...  Awareness, and scientific research for a cure are two different things.  I fully support the later, don't really get too caught up on the former.

Oqsy, I used to think that, until my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer.

I'm sorry to hear about your wife's cancer.  I don't think my wife being diagnosed would change my statement above, however.  Breast cancer is a serious disease, and rampant at that.  I think that the money spend on pink ribbons, etc would be better spent if donated directly to University medical center research programs, though.  No middle men = every dollar goes directly to those with the best chance of stopping any and all cancers.  Showing support comes in all forms, and doesn't need a product or logo to be effective.

Yes, but the pink ribbon types of campaigns draw awareness, attention and big sponsors - like KFC who just donated a few million to to Susan G. Komen foundation.  Good stuff.   We do a run/walk every year called "Race for the cure".  This year our team name was "The Juggernauts"  Theres quite a bit of humor there to help lighten the mood... lots of sad things there too.  Our fav team we saw this year was called "Save Second Base" - that totally cracked me up.   20,000 people were there this year.

Very nice.  I sincerely apologize if anyone took my post above as being inconsiderate or cavalier.  I have known many people with different types of cancer throughout my life, some with happy endings, other not.  My comment was directed toward a societal trend of putting labels and logos and color schemes to things that are much more serious in nature.  I dunno, I'm having a hard time articulating my point.  My sincerest best wishes to anyone fighting any disease, cancers or otherwise, and I really wasn't trying to make light.

Yeah I actually agree. A lot of these "cure to" or "money to help" organizations funnel money directly to some big fat CEO. I'm not against such things, but seriously... fundraisers are just being abused most of the time. If the money directly went where it was supposed to, I'd have no problem.

And that brings up a good question, where DOES the donation money go to for breast cancer, and is it really necessary? Most scientific researches were discovered by individuals as a hobby on their own personal time without any massive donation contributions.
Now, if the donations were to help individuals with cancer, then that's all right and fine, but how about directly sending the money to them then? People could put themselves on a "requesting funds" list, and Mr. Goody comes by and donates to someone in need.

I'm still confused by the perspective of the LHC in your first pic post, ripster.  The photos I've seen look more like the one with the Half-Life dude hanging around.

I got the same email about them selling out so fast, by the way.  I directed him to this thread.  Hopefully he joins and gives special geekhack prices on future items.

I don't know, given the fact that we seem to operate in such militaristic precision and synchronicity, he might be a little intimidated about showing his face around here.  Think about it from his perspective...  he has those up for a week, no sales.  Then in a matter of a couple of hours, all are sold.  Then, he asks the buyers why the sudden interest in these items, and all reply almost identically pointing him here

I think the Kamino cloning facilities would come to mind if I were him...

My CH products DT225 arrived today in pristine condition. I'm amused to see pet hair in the padding foam, but the device itself is definitely new out-of-box. Love the feel of it. It's not elegant, but I can imagine still using it in 50 years.

Ripster; I can see why you call it the model M of Trackballs.

Nothing yet.  I would guess shipping from Canada to CA or AR would be roughly the same unless he's in Vancouver or Newfoundland...  Then again customs can be silly about which packages are expedited through and which are held in the "warehouse" for a while.  (http://www.moviemobsters.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/indiana-jones-raiders-warehouse.jpg)

Mine arrived yesterday but I missed the delivery.  Overlooked the card in the mail until this morning, but it was at the post office on my way to work, so I picked it up and played with it on my desk all day (USB only PC at work, so I had to pretend!)

Just hooked it up here and started fooling around with it about 20 minutes ago.  I'm enjoying it so far.  I am having trouble figuring out the button mapping though.  Right now the lower left button is single left click, the lower right button is single right click, and the upper two buttons are hold left click and hold right click (have to be pressed a second time to "drop" icon, slider, etc.)  Does anyone have a preferred layout for these dudes?  If so, what method did you use for setting it up?  It doesn't appear to have it's own driver / config program on the CH website.  When I go into mouse options, I only get options for two buttons instead of four, so I don't think I could change the function of the upper two buttons even if I wanted to at this point.  Ripster, ricer?  anyone with clues?  A generic driver out there that will offer some options?

The CH Control Manager I linked in the other CH 225 thread (http://geekhack.org/showpost.php?p=195732&postcount=9) has all 4 buttons in the Trackball Pro configgerator, but I haven't really figured out how to use it.
