Does Putin count as a democracy?
First Reagan telling the Soviets to bring the wall down. This is just advice; not, unfortunately, orders that must be obeyed. If being a superpower were that simple, one could also order his replacements not to include the Muslim Brotherhood in their coalitions.
Then Obama telling Mubarak to retire in California.
It's tough being a SuperPower.
Does Putin count as a democracy?Let's see.

But while I had seen that pronouncement by your President in the news, I had not heard of the warm human interest story of Jhonnattan Vegas finding fame after being jolted out of his impoverished pond by the forces of anti-American dictatorship. Surely Tiger Woods had proved that golf was no longer a sport for idle capitalist oppressors, but Hugo Chavez failed to pay attention.
Let's see.
Not being happy with the government in Chechnya, they bombed the place, killing civilians indiscriminately. Some Chechens, in their desperation, turned to al-Qaeda for help, because the CIA wasn't stepping up to the plate. Go figure.
Using a claim, later shown to be false of massacres of ethnic Russians, while G. W. Bush was out of touch in Beijing because of the Olympics, they invaded Georgia and seized part of its territory, so that now Russian troops are no longer separated from this democratic ally of ours by a natural mountain barrier. When they take over all of Georgia, will that be their "last territorial demand in Europe"?

As usual, the US is giving itself far too much credit. Though I'm sure controlling 1/5 of their military budget has its perks.

Well, Hosni Mubarrak did make an announcement. He won't run again for the top office... in September.
Incidentally, McCain is a popular brand of "fries" in the British IslesAnd here I thought it was a Canadian brand of frozen French Fries!
Whoah - don't be a Kanye and take away Obama's prize dude!Show Image(http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5288/5368427623_3b320be071_z.jpg)
It's just impressive!I am amazed that he had that little gold Lego figure available... even if neither Taylor Swift nor Barack Obama ever won an Academy Award, it's close enough!
Obama did not force Mubarak to step down. 300,000 protesters and the Egyptian military did.I think we know that. Ripster was being ironic in his first post; even the President of the United States, powerful though he is, does not control everything that happens in the world - and this was what Ripster was seeking to emphasize.
