Lego trumps Playmo because Ole Kirk Christiansen is a cooler name
than Hans Beck (RIP) ... Besides, Lego is DANISH !!

I'm sure it will be sold out today, and will hence be unavailable tomorrow.

They still make little brass steam engines for children...

it's a pity you can't go to a toy store, and purchase a toy System/360 mainframe installation.

Hey, with Hercules, they could even make it *really work*!

It has to do with the way they treat developers and customers, O you cant get a signal you must be an idiot and dont know how to hold a phone.  Jobs sold his soul to get to where he is now which is exactly what he depicted in the 80's commercial, karma will always get you in the end just ask him about his health.

They make solid products that do last though I just dont like the way they go about doing business.

I like that Intel is testifying against Google in the EU Investigation.  After all, if you have to pay a $1B tax you might as well make sure your competition does too.

I was like huh Apple??? Then you changed it lol

Ohh, the masses? I thought ~4% of the market was a minority...

Windows-based PCs are still over 90% of the market. So that argument is moot.

I don't either. But that's not the entire organization, just Jobs not being able to admit fault.

I used to be an Apple hater til I convinced myself to get a Macbook Pro to try out OS X. And I liked it. A lot. I prefer it to Windows, and the 3 guys i work with (at the Office of Information Technology store at my school) use Macs. All three are Computer Science/Computer Engineering majors. And they use Macs.

The Mac hating is pointless, and puts you in the exact same bracket as the Mac lovers. When I see 'LOL Macs suck! LOL you can't play games!' it's really the same thing as Mac lovers saying 'PCs are antiquated! LOL we're so trendy with our iPhones, iPads, and Macbooks!!!'

BTW, I have a Macbook Pro, a Windows gaming PC, and a Blackberry Bold.

Their business practices can be less than admirable. But they make good products.

BTW you guys sure go off topic a lot.

Coming from you, I think that's a compliment? LOL :p

Their business practices are my favorite part.

AAPL is at 344.

Ethical companies like MSFT and INTC have done nothing for me.

Meh stocks arent my thing

Makes sense. The way it was written there wasn't a real distinction between where I finished my comment to you and when I went on a general rant :p

That 90-ish% is spread out over dozens of PC makers. Apple is in the top 5 for computer sales. HP, Acer, Dell, Apple and Toshiba, IIRC. It's not just about market share though, Apple has profits that wipe nearly any other company off the map. They are also sitting on $25B in the bank with no corporate debt. From a business standpoint they are kicking ass and taking names in a market where most other PC makers have to live off the thin margins of bottom end sales. I'm not a fanboi either but from a business perspective they've got it nailed.

10.6% computer sales share with huge profits, or melee fighting for pennies on the dollar from value shoppers? ;-)

You have to consider their biggest moneymakers: iPhones and iTunes store. Not their PCs. They aren't a PC manufacturer, like Acer, Dell, HP, and Toshiba (who arguably aren't only PC makers anymore, but they've only seriously gotten into the mobile market in the last year).

iTunes makes them billions every year. It is not a business model that's easily emulated by other companies (since Android is the top mobile OS now and Google rakes in those profits) and that's what they did that is so smart. They've gotten 25% of the US mobile market and AT LEAST half of the MP3 market, and with all of those people buying music and/or apps through iTunes that's quickly adds up.

It's true that they have extremely strong positions in mobile and music, but that still doesn't push them off of being in the top 5 PC makers.
