Happy Birthday IBM!
My 'THINK' plaque just arrived in the mail yesterday. It's a lot nicer in person than the photos indicate.

I wore my Rebus shirt to work today.

Everything in the online store is actually very affordable
I will order that washable mouse!

Nice! Its incredible for such an old company still thriving with with their computing innovations and continues to be highly profitable.

Yep, the only trick is saying you are an IBM affiliate.
I hereby appoint you one for reading this post.
lol if they ask in the order I will say "affilated through ripster"
Btw I looked through the IBM wikipedia and it mentioned how they were employing women, blacks, gay/lesbians back when most corporations didn't and they looked at it as having an edge on the competition. That really goes well with the whole THINK slogan.

I have IBM friends but none of them are women, black, gay or lesbian. However one is a secondary Guardian for my son in my will.
Who get's the industrial mini if you get hit by a meteor?

Great idea! I gotta get mine out and hang around the hipster corner.
Are you saying IBM is hipster now? Man, I've been out of the loop.
I've been a fan of IBM for as long as I can remember. I guess the fact that my Grandfather is IBM retired might have something to do with it though. He used to be a plant manager at IBM's printing division in Lexington, Kentucky-- now known as Lexmark (funny, you wonder where they got the name from?) Maybe doodling in his Think jotter and hearing stories about those "bald headed monkeys" had an effect on my young mind. In any case, I've been an IBM watcher for a long time. As a thirteen year old during the dot-com boom I used to subscribe to any free marketing materials I could sign up for on IBM.com, always claiming to be an IBM affiliate (hey, Poppy worked for IBM so that makes me affiliated, right?) I'd spend my evenings reading and admiring the good design and typography in the Think Research magazine, which is now sadly out of print.
I'm no foaming at the mouth fan-boy (I've already been through that phase), or a delusional who thinks their G70 is the best monitor ever. I have a few IBM things that I keep because I appreciate the design. I'm choosy about what I own and I tend to be loyal to brands I like.
I think my admiration for IBM, it's design philosophy, and its values have affected me professionally and personally. When IBM Logostore started offering IBM Centennial merchandise I was impressed with their offerings. I got a THINK and Rebus T-Shirt, the THINK plaque, a couple of THINK moleskin notebooks and four THINK jotters with lots of refills.
I THINK my plaque looks good at my desk in my home:

I tend to think of them as a company you can generally respect for their quality. While some of their stuff may be controversial or a market failure, there's not a lot of kit they put out which is outright rubbish. Not many large firms can say that these days (HP and your $59 printers with 78 dollar refills...)
i suppose it's a little fanboyish.
