So, I've been using a poker for probably around a year now,and I'm so used to using the Fn key to do simple things like use the arrow keys, delete, and other things, that using a full sized keyboard is awkward as hell xD
It's honestly harder for me to use a keyboard the normal way. I keep hitting the ~ key instead of escape, and holding left alt and pressing the number keys for the F keys.
So I guess my point is, if you stay away from different layouts like the poker because you aren't used to it, it doesn't take long at all for it to be perfectly normal. ;D

I couldn't get used to the poker at all from a regular keyboard, the FN layout was brutal for me.
-
It was for me too at first.

I always felt the HHKB had a superior layout in terms of fn layer. But for me, switching between my hhkb and any other keyboard is a pain in the butt for muscle memory reasons.
-
Exactly xD
I'm sure the HHKB layout is awesome though compared to the Poker. I wonder how the PURE layout is.

Pure was pretty terrible with the awkward arrow cluster layout. It was kinda of painful to use on the hands.

i just leave the arrow lock on with both the poker and the pure. they're both suboptimal boards from a mapping standpoint, but the best we can do until we get a proper board designed at that size.

Custom keyboard, anybody? xD.

DOXkb.
The ergoDOX isn't that much larger, especially if you put the two sides right next to eachother.

Write your own layer?
I use caps lock as a 2nd layer key to send AutoCAD commands all the time. W for mirror, R for rotate, Q to add another row in a table, Z to add another colum.......

I'm afraid of anything smaller than a RACE 75%

I don't think I'd like the HHKB layout because the Fn key and navigation keys are so far from the homerow. With the Poker and Pure at least they're much closer. The only thing that confuses me with the poker is when I want to do something like Shift+End where you now have to hold 3 keys because of Fn, sometimes I'll fumble with those for a bit.
