Title: Keyboard Bags
Post by: ShakeR on Thu, 09 August 2012, 11:17:52
Prototypes for potential keyboard bags.  Although I'm partial to white w/ black accents, we can use whatever color we want on either of these two designs.  High quality webbing straps and strong nylon material.

Retail would likely be between $30 - $40 / bag. I'd also like to put our 'M' logo somewhere on the bag (corner or centered).

Both designs hold fullsize keyboards. Please let me know your thoughts.

I'd only be interested in a TKL or HHKB size I am afraid.

I think it's pretty expensive since it doesn't seem rigid at all.

Also, nobody uses a fullsized keyboard :P.

And I'd like to be able to carry my laptop with my keyboard ^^.

These look ok but a little... busy. I wish I could have gotten my sleeve design off the ground but I have too much going on all the time for that to be viable now.

That's 'cause the rigidity will come from the Model M or XTant you'll be putting in there.

I like the design.

I'd buy one if it was a tenkeyless size.

Originally, everyone was asking for Full Size since EKB already had 2 TKL versions.  It seems the sentiment has changed lol.

I figured there may some value here is it would accommodate a full size keyboard and offer a lower price point than the $50 bags on EKB.

Thanks for everyone's feedback!  Helpful as always :)

p.s. - Other than Starcraft, I absolutely require a Fullsize keyboard. Spreadsheets with no 10-key, not a chance.  Also, not a fan of separate numpad as it's two things to plug in instead of one.  Is everyone typing on TV trays now?  That extra 3 inches of desk space seems to be so vital to all the enthusiasts.  Don't get me wrong, I do see the sex appeal.  I just miss the functionality of my full size.

You tell them, I have 2 full sizes and a poker. Totally opposite sides of the keyboard size scale

I have been typing on a keyboard without numpad for a while, before I bought my mech keyboard.

So I already didn't need it.

less keyboard width = improved ergo = win

Reaching for that mouse blows after a few miles a day.

I do agree with this point and it isn't one I fully considered.  What I have noticed though is that my hatred for 'mouse reaching' has forced me to learn more keyboard shortcuts ;)

Smaller KBs have even MORE shortcuts  ;)

I wish I could have gotten my sleeve design off the ground

I was sad to see this project fade away.  I was sold on the simple neoprene sleeve for a board.

Reaching for that mouse blows after a few miles a day.

And that was the reason for my switch to TKL, right there.  The strain on my shoulder/neck was getting out of hand when I used my full size.  The lack of the numpad hurt me for a few days, but then I realized that was missing the 'Enter' key on the numpad more than the actual pad.

I'd be interested in the white version for a TKL, especially, since it looks like we're getting competitive prices in the bag market.

Let's custom it?

I also need a good bag...
