Title: Plate vs PBC mounted
Post by: Rafen on Sun, 19 August 2012, 20:17:41
I was wondering if boards that are PBC mounted quieter than boards that are plate mounted?

In my experience It (PCB vs. plate mount) has more to do with feel than sound.  However AFAIK most who whine about "ping" are using boards on a plate mount.

Thanks a lot. I just thought that there might be a thunk sound like a topre board if the boards was PBC.

The landing of a key press is always inside the switch if it's a Cherry board no matter if it has a plate.  The plate just makes a harder sound reflective surface that is closer to the base of the key cap.
