Title: Carrying your keyboard arround
Post by: SmallFry on Mon, 20 August 2012, 12:46:56
How do you guys carry your keyboards? I have been contemplating the $50 Leopold case on EK, but $50 is a lot for what it is. Plus, I have other shapes and sizes of keyboards as well. Thoughts?

I actually try not to carry my boards around. My two main boards are Realforces, and I don't particularly relish the idea of carrying around $300-$600+ in keyboards. If I need to travel with one, I just pop my MJ2 in it's box and haul that around.

I was trying to carry one for school. The box for my Leopold seems a bit clunky to carry around, IMO that is.

I'm planning on carrying my HPE 87 to and from school every so often, just by putting it into my book bag with my books and such. That was originally why I wanted a Poker but we all know how hard to get those are.

bringing a tenkeyless around is already quite clunky, but if you're set on doing that then the leopold case isnt bad.

That post took me forever to read. Punctuation seems to make all the difference. LOL!

well, it isn't punctuation but the arround in the title of this post makes me think you're a pirate, SmallFry.

Someone her posted a keyboard carrying bag somewhere, with a shoulder strap and padded inside - that would be best (if that is the Leopold case you are referring to).

Chucking it in an ordinary bag with books and other stuff would risk knocking key caps off and potentially damaging the switches.

And if it has a detatchable cable, the small USB port in the keyboard is sometimes quite fragile.  A few people have commented that repeatedly plugging and unplugging can cause the socket to detach from the circuit board and recede into the case.

Poker cases ftw! Makes you look pretty badass when you walk around, and you can hit people with the case if you ever need to :P

My poker fits in my "man bag" / "man purse" aka Leather Satchel

Kinda like this http://www.sportscraft.com.au/derek-leather-satchel/w1/i9374884/ but pleather.. and I bought it in Harajuku in Japan!

When I still had my Poker, just in my backpack or laptop messenger bag surrounded in slight piece of cloth.
When Noppoo used to fit very well in this bag, nothing needed it couldn't move.

these  (http://www.sfbags.com/products/keyboard-cases/keyboard-sleeve.php)would probably work pretty well for hhkb/pokers

That's a poker chips case, commonly use in Casinos.

do you think the 200 or 300 chip cases would be too big for a tenkeyless?

When going to lan parties, I use a laptop bag. Throw in my TKL with plastic cover, strap it down, then load up the pockets with various cords/mouse/pad/headphones.

Mine came from Korea and I was told it holds between 300 - 350 chips so that should be good.  Let me know about the fitting if you decide to get one.  :)

DIY Sleeve made of cardboard from amazon works well enough.

I've decided to make myself a case out of Oak and Walnut, then engrave my name into the top with my high school's laser engraver. I'll upload some pictures from the 3D modeling software once I fine tune the model. Right now, the model isn't filleted quite right since the assembly was borked when I made the frame in multiple pieces. DOH! Oh well, I'll upload pictures soon nonetheless.

I have a cardboard and duct-tape case for my e-reader (Sony PRS-T1), and it has worked out really nicely. According to George Orwell (Down and out in Paris and London) they used to make suitcases out of cardboard (If I recall correctly, he Pawns his). I believe it, as my cardboard case has taken quite a beating, and yet is still good to go, and still protects my e-reader really well.

I'm already planning to case my Phantom(s) and upcoming DIY keyboards in cardboard.

Otherwise I just stuff my BWU into my laptop backpack. It's the Astro Scout Pack. Love that thing to pieces.
