Title: Aluminum carrying case for tenkeyless or smaller
Post by: reaper on Fri, 24 August 2012, 21:03:48
Thanks to Lethal Squirrel and his link (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=34821.msg644857#msg644857), I ordered this case from Amazon for $25 shipped and it's the exact same case I got from Korea.  So if any of you out there looking for a case for your KMAC, Cheat, Phantom, etc.  This is probabaly one of the least expensive cases to carry your precious keyboard around.

Amazon link (http://www.amazon.com/Da-Vinci-Aluminum-Chip-Case/dp/B002P9ULPS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1345590409&sr=8-1&keywords=poker%20chip%20case&tag=5336432816-20) (choose the one that has 300-chip capacity and there are 15 in stock)

inside with chips tray:

You can remove that chips tray and use the included foam to put on the bottom so it'll look like the one on the left here:

And yes, it'll fit Poker, Race, Pure, etc but might need some extra foam for padding:

It also comes with 2 small keys in case you want to lock the case.  This case is perfect for carrying keyboard to your local GH meeting that's been popping up more and more recently.

My order came out to $25.71 shipped.  If you have Amazon's Prime account then the shipping is free.  Other states might have to add sales tax, etc.

This is a great find. :D

Edit: :O A few mixed reviews on Amazon. But I guess for $25 thats what happens. And I kind of wish the induced foam was on both sides.

It's not the greatest case in the world, but it's better than a cardboard box and doesn't look half bad.

Yes. A little pricey for some foam, but thank you. Maybe some local recording studios would have some extra they could sell.

EDIT: Lol, 8.74 for shipping? "Yo dawg I heard you like foam".

How heavy is the case? It seems like an interesting idea, but looks a bit bulky if you want to carry around more than just the keyboard.

it is fairly light.  Not heavy at all.  I bought one, but never used it.

Think it'd be small and light enough to toss in a backpack with other stuff? or are there better options for that that you know of?

Cost aside, this is an excellent carrying case: http://www.elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=access,cases&pid=leo_tkb001

It is much less bulky than the aluminum case, so it would take up much less room in your backpack and give your keyboard good protection.  I have done that myself.
