He's right.  Because there is no substitute to real interaction.  We need to be socialized creatures, that means we know what is right and wrong when dealing with real people rather than seeing ONLY type on the screen with no emotion(s) registering.  Hence it would be extremely easy to become an internet Troll, with no concept of decency or conscious sympathy for anyone other than themselves.

I am certainly not suggesting that you demik are in any ways a .......Troll, in fact far from it.

I can completely understand how you feel. I was grossly overweight for the majority of my life. At the height of my obesity, I weighed around 340 pounds. Climbing a flight of stairs tired me. In the summer of 2010, I started dieting and exercising. I started just by waking. A few miles everyday. I stuck with it and I stuck to my diet. I walked everyday. I started dropping off the weight. After about six months, I started running instead. I consistently increased the amount I'd run every week or two. By summer 2011, I had lost exactly half of my body weight. I went from wearing a size 52 trousers to a size 34, and 3 xl shirts down to medium. I now run seven miles a day or bicycle 23 miles, six days a week or more. I feel better, I'm fit, and girls actually smile at me. It's a good feeling, and I respect and support your decision. Best of luck to you!

that is really awesome man. and huge motivation. i've been getting **** from my boss (cyclist fanatic) about my weight and my age. my father's family has diabetes, and i don't want to be another one. im too young to be feeling like **** over a few lousy stairs. if my keyboard addiction has to suffer for my health to get better, so be it.

plus, i want to see what the whole deal is about being outside. i've heard there's sun and wind and stuff. can't be better than video game graphics, right?

What's crazy is that I can eat more than when I did when I was fat. When I eat at a buffet, people I go with get tired of watching me eat. It appears that when you get to a certain level of cardio fitness, your metabolism is so much higher and you burn so many calories on a daily basis, you are almost always hungry.

ow if a bianchi decides to be at an awesome price i wont say no to it. but chances are, it won't.

Find a late 90's or early 2000's Italian made bianchi that someone bought and never really used. Its easy to find one of those with a reynold's steel frame and campy components still in great shape. A bike like this is much nicer than a similar priced new trek/can/giant/etc one with low end components built to last not more than a couple years. If you take care of it, the frame will pretty much last forever.

this is true.

during my training, i ate 8-9 times a day. small stuff tho. mostly fruit and stuff just to keep my metabolism up.

lol all i can say is good luck. dumping one semi expensive hobby for something that could extend your life is a great challenge to set yourself, however be prepared to get just as hooked on bike gear as keyboards, and they are many many many times more expensive.

my bike is worth more then my car :(

that's the beauty of it!

im not rich, so it will limit my hoarding of stuff. with keyboards, they aren't too expensive as i always found a way to get what i wanted.

Ride safe! 2 cyclist are killed very month in Singapore.

Be sure to be as visible as possible.

Yea, but that is Singapore, where it seems like people have to yield to cars, even when you're at a crosswalk. That seriously annoyed the **** out of me while in Singapore.

Should move up here to NorCal, some good biking! Not as good as Europe, but still pretty solid :)

Any chance of it being structured like your last auction?

the prices?

sure.

i'll go through my PMs and post them.

i'll be posting the PM w/ the person's sn blocked out tho. not sure if they want to stay anonymous or what.

Thanks :) I take it that Vadar is MX?
yes MX.

and it's too much work. i just listed the prices on the OP. if anybody doubts me i'll upload it.

Is this an auction or are they straight up for sale at those prices? When does this end?

I want to see fire sale prices for a good bye sale! I'm just kidding. :D

It would be interesting to see bid prices go up, but it is already pretty high up there.

Good luck with your new hobby, by the way.

Things really work differently "out west". I see the ironman and vader are $320 if you buy them separately but $350 as a package. Am I missing something here?

According to current bid prices, I guess the final sale prices are going to go up even more.

I just have one more auction left to do.

I'm going to auction off my Keycap container. Since I pretty much reached my goal with the other auctions, 50% of the sale will go back to geek hack as a final thank you.

Awesome, road bikes are a lot of fun to ride, hope you have lots of fun. I second the recommendation of a 90s steel frame. I found a Columbus SLX Marinoni with dura ace group for $300 and I've done better.

You can get some very lightweight, very fast bikes for a steal if you know what you're shopping for.

K here's the thing.

For the amount these are going for I don't feel comfortable shipping overseas unless it's EMS, insured and I write the true value on customs form in case anything happens. We can go half on the fees.

Ouch, then I'm sorry but I'll take my bid back, as it means customs for sure, with quite an amount probably :( (Last time I had $40 for $95 declared, so I guess it would be approximately $100 this time)
But I get your point ;)

Gotta get some training done and drop 10 kilos, what that is in pounds I am too lazy to check (see that bad lazy habit here). Gotta get some change, less wank more IRL flirting!

Good for you demik. I lost 80lbs when I was in 1st year. I remember what did it too. I was getting measured for a suit and the guy told me I would need a 'portly' sized suit [its a nice way to say 'fat suit']. I was PISSED. I bought a treadmill and I would run while watching hockey [Canadian alert!]. Best of luck with it. Sorry for thread crapping all over you. Just wanted to tell my fat kid story.
