Title: Making my own keyboard..?
Post by: spiralsc2 on Sun, 02 September 2012, 10:01:01
I was wondering about making a custom keyboard, but I don't have the knowledge of soldering, circuit boards, etc
Could anyone help me out so I could make my own, and sometime in the future maybe a GB if I make something cool haha
also: does anyone know where to find a plain keyboard case that a circuit board could fit right in?

might be good to try a bit of soldering first like buy a small electronic kit first so you can learn. I think you also need to know how to program the controller but uhh not entirely sure.

You don't need to make a circuit board if you are just making a one off. You can hand wire the matrix

As for the firmware there already exists firmware if you use a Teensy

I've done both for my custom keyboard: http://pyrolistical.github.com/blog/2012/08/11/full-custom-keypoard/
