The Rosewill announced their newest member of the family to the best-selling Rosewill RK-9000 mechanical keyboard series; making its world debut is the new Illuminated RK-9100 series mechanical keyboards. You can now type away for hours in the dark while keeping your swagger.
The current RK-9000 series has 4 models which feature the Cherry MX Blue (RK-9000), Brown (RK-9000BR), Black (RK-9000BL), Red (RK-9000RE) Switches and 2 limited edition Elite Ivory models include Cherry MX Blue (RK-9000I) and Brown (RK-9000BRI) switches. It has been a top-seller for Rosewill since it launched in 2010. The brand new Illuminated RK-9100 Series will be available in 2 variations which includes Cherry MX Blue (RK-9100) and Brown (RK-9100BR) switches. With the new series of RK-9100, Rosewill provides more tailored options as a dream keyboard while continuing to be a best-selling mechanical keyboard.
It's still full sized, no mention of the price, and hopefully it's still made by costar. No MX reds though, which may upset some users.
Edit: it is manufactured by iRocks, which is based in Taiwan. The 9100 is said to be $135, according to kaiserreich's sources.

The Malaysian distributor confirms that the 9000 is Costar, the 9100(backlit) is iRocks OEM
-
iRocks? Is that like iOne? Can you say anything about the quality of it, or are there any notable keyboards made by iRocks?
-
iOne is coming out from Guangzhou.
I think iRocks is probably coming out from Taiwan, but they do have a factory in Guangzhou as well.
I have never tried any of the keyboards before, but pricing wise, the 9000 goes for a bout $100 and the backlit for $135

Thanks, OP editted!

I-rocks makes the KR-6230 (http://www.i-rocksusa.com/products/KR-6230.html) and KR-6251 (http://www.i-rocks.com/Product_detail.aspx?CLASS_ID=1056&PRODUCT_ID=1252) mechanical keyboards, as well as the KR-6260 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823204034) rubber dome with special plungers designed to simulate mechanical keys.
I had a KR-6260. Felt like any other rubber dome to me; plus there was something wonky with either the membrane or the controller that caused a lot of blocking issues in fast typing. For instance, the word "keyboard" almost always came out "keyboad". Would not buy again.
-
That's really disappointing, and perhaps it only had 2kro?
-
Seemed like 1KRO at times (is that even possible?). Maybe mine was just defective; their Newegg ad says it should be able to achieve 13KRO over USB.
Either way, it only took me a couple of weeks to get tired of typing "keyboad", and other, similarly mangled words, so I scrapped it.
-
Wise choice... and thanks for the warning on the iRock keyboards! I hope rosewill/newegg isn't making a big mistaking with the 9100.
-
I think iOne and iRocks are both Taiwanese company but their factory is in China (Kinda like iPhone designed in California made in China). While Costar is entirely based in Taiwan and made in Taiwan.
I think Rosewill RK-9100 should've just kept the same design as RK-9000 and use the num lock / cap lock / scroll lock lights at top right. The green light on the key switch is so ugly.

Going to try to pick up one of those RK-9000BRI, when it goes on sale. (Those are still costar, right?)
EDIT: Based on how different the 9100 series is from the 9000 series, I am going to say the 9000 series is still costar.

The bottom row arrangement really bothers me on this one. I don't like they used 3 1.5 mods on the left and pushed the reduced size space over to the right 1 unit.
-
OH god, mistake.... DO NOT WANT....
-
It is out now; you can buy them at Newegg; they plan on releasing red and black switches and different color back lights sometime before Christmas. Look for them in October, that gives them plenty of time to sell them at full price before Black Friday sales.
-
I first read the title and was a bit confused, because if Rosewill will have backlit, then filco should too. But then I read on and it's not by costar anymore. Of course, this will be good for folks that care about bling more than quality.

Really favours the right spacebar thumbers like me, but I don't really like it.

It's on sale in Singapore for 2 weeks already.

1.5x Modifiers are found on the BW, so I'm guessing it's made by Ione.

Glad I found this thread. I've been amply happy with my 9000BK and was thinking about getting a backlit browns/blues for quiet/noisy nighttime typing. I guess the jury is still out?

I opened mine up for heavier cleaning, figured I'd share some pictures:

There was some solid gunk at various solder points on the underside of the board. I'm hoping cleaning it the gunk off and clearing the massive amounts of dust that accumulated will clear up some typing errors. I'm not holding my breath though .
I didn't see anything in the rules about a preference on reviving old topics vs. making new threads. If I should've made a new thread, please let me know :).
