Title: Cutting a 11800, searching for a pic
Post by: domin8r on Thu, 13 September 2012, 04:24:19
Hi,

I've gathered all the stuff I need for a mod to a 11800. Wanna cut off the numeric and trackball.
There was a picture posted by elbowglue that showed where to cut the board so you wouldn't need to solder anything.

I had saved the image but I've lost it through a HD failure. And it seems it's also not in the thread (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=9542.0) anymore (due to the upgrade I suppose).

Contacted elbowglue himself but he seems inactive.

Does anyone have this image? My saw is ready to go! :D

Kint over at DT was trying to sell his 'ssk' modded 11800 a little bit ago, but he has some pictures in the listing.  I'm checking to see if his worklog is still up over there, but you could also message him about advice.  I've been contemplating doing this to my 11900 just as a fun project.  His results were pretty good, too :)

You just cut between the 741 and 852 columns of the numeric keypad. Kint cut some more than that, apparently.

Yeah I remember cutting next to the first column of the numpad, but that it wasn't a straight line down from day. Had a bit of a bend to it halfway down the pcb.
