Title: [IC] R00TW0RM Set
Post by: f/64 on Thu, 13 September 2012, 22:06:12: While GH was down and marooned on DT, interest was expressed in a R00TW0RM key cap. I had the idea over in the key cap section first and it really seemed to gain support so here we are.

Except for the iMav (which will be Dye Subbed) these will be SP Double Shots.
DCS family done in the SP font.
ON on GQM to match the GH colors.

G and H keys will be Row 3 profile
R-R-R-Roll Back will be Row 1
The iMav dye sub will also be Row 1
Everything else will be Row 5
(If there's interest in changing a profile, we can do that)

The cost before shipping for the set would be $13.52 if we ordered 100 sets. There's always a possibility this could change slightly, and shipping will increase the cost of course.

it's not as serious as a tattoo... honestly i think the r-r-r-rollback key (not the 1x) and the r.i.p.ster key are dumber than the rootworm key. i think that one is actually pretty funny :))

anyway still in for a set. jwaz you can have the G H keys from mine :D

If there's not significant interest, or enough to make the set worth it, then we can see about dropping some keys. Everything included in the set was something somebody suggested except for the 2x1 that I did as a play on C-C-C-Combo Breaker since the site had been rolled back before.

Regardless of whether he's here or not, you have to admit he was a pretty big part of GH and has shaped it at least a little into what it is now. You don't have to look at it as honoring HIM anyways, look at it as BANNING him. Or just don't buy it; it's only part of the set because GHers were interested in it.

I think the Rollback backspace key should have the arrow graphic instead of the R-R-R-. If you do it in WYSE font, it should be two words. <-- Roll Back. If Cherry font, just one word. <-- Rollback.

I'm not sure if we would include it with this one; we certainly can if everybody wants it. I would just be worried about adding more caps to this one when a few folks are already buying it for just one or two caps. I'll definitely mock it up, as a few people have expressed interest, but it would probably end up as a different set.

I just prefer SP's time be spent on better projects that more of the community would want. I'm sure if SP told us that all current GB's with them would be sped up by 2 weeks if this wasn't made, there would be minimal interest.

I guess regarding my history here, Ripster was a big reason I officially joined GH. I'd stumbled on this site several times while reading hardware forums or looking up info on Dolch PAC boards. I know the community all contributed to the wiki, but several of his wiki pages really helped me out when I was first learning about mechanical keyboards. However, none of this is of course possible without iMav running/hosting the site and the dozens of people who also support it.

Regardless of how it ended (love it or hate it) it is edged into internet history.

I remember his sometimes useless banter, the fact he used iMAVs photo as a scare tactic to get his kids to study, and just how much this ego centric a** knows about keyboards.

He really f-ed up one too many times, and therefor got himself kicked off of the island. But, he gave me my first novelty key cap, a lego man, and a keyboardco coaster during an infamous poll I'm sure many of you remember.

KL thought I was factitious because I hadn't come forward to claim my prize in a few weeks (shows how much I use to visit). And after that, I'm still here.

Please do an ic! Qwerkeys would have moq of 100. Don't know about sp but I'd be happier with the qwerkeys profile.

That is true, hate the guy all you want but he actually encouraged me to join up here since he personally recommended the Wiki information (yes, I know how much you guys all hate that now).

That did focus my attention to everything related to Mechanical Keyboards. He has never given me any cause to truly despise him nor to want to burn him alive at the stake. He may of went off the rails, but history should never be abandoned just for the sake of pleasing any majority. Imagine if everyone did that, erasing history to suit themselves for the future.......

You know the fate of all those that like to ignore and/or delete history, it always finds a way of repeating in subtle and/or rampant schemes.

Now RIPster has taken on a Mythological stance because all the noobies who join up, hear this melodious chorus of Hatred chimed at him. Like all kids it attracts them, some kind of odious creature that is despised and ignored by the majority at large. It actually may apply to them in their own lives back home. That is why "deleting" him is more harmful because he becomes even a more powerful figure gaining ever more notoriety and support.

I don't think he will ever die on the internet, even though he is truly dead here. But remember he did at one time live and breathe here on this forum and actually offered a reason to select a mechanical over a dome every time....... that at least should never be forgotten.
