Title: New switch discovered, The "Aruz" switch.
Post by: 486 on Sat, 15 September 2012, 06:28:37
So I posted some stuff about some boards I got. I decided to dig a bit deeper in the "Fame" keyboard I got.
It has Aruz switches. Why do I call them Aruz switches? because that is the brand written on the bottom of the switch housing.
The switches are odd in that the housing is designed like a KPT switch, the feel is like a KPT, Monterey and Blue Alps in one and the slider, which is blue, looks like Blue Alps but is not the same. (looks like a hash symbol, if you can imagine that) Has anybody ever seen any of these switches before? The board's age seems to be around 1987-88 by the date code on some IC's.
I should have pics up soon. CF card slot is playing up in my Desktop.

Wow, that's interesting! Are the keycaps alps compatible? I love the crossed 0's.

Looks like a very stable switch in all directions with all that buttressing. Is that the case?

Yes it is very stable on most keys but on Caps Lock and Shift , it is a little hard on the edges due to there being no stabilseres on any keys except space and enter.
I started a wiki on the "aruz" switch on DT wiki.
