Do you crave the attention and recognition garnered by owning one of the mystery keycaps?
Do you have one of the mystery keycaps but need more of them?
Do you just like blue and white keycaps?
Here's your opportunity to own one of these beautiful specimens of unknown origin. They could signal membership in an elite club. Maybe they're made with alien technology. Or they could be laced with poison and repeated use on a keyboard will lead to a gradual but increasingly painful death. In any case bid on this for your chance to own a part of history!
Bidding starts at $10x with x=2. Bids must be posted here in the form x=m where m is a positive integer greater than 1 and also greater than the previous offered value for x. That's right it's exponential bidding.
Auction will end when I feel like ending it.

Hi, do you ship internationally? Thanks!

Hi, do you ship internationally? Thanks!
International, interplanetary, by tacocopter or remote submarine. Delivery of this ultra-rare keycap can be negotiated regardless of where you live!
-
So price starts at 100, and next bid is 1000?
-
$1
-
You drunk boy?

YUUUUUUUUUP!
-
Damn you Dave Hester!
-
$1
I'm going to need you to read the bidding instructions again. Please and thank you!
-
You drunk boy?
Nah. Just thought I'd offer someone else the chance to get one of these keys since mine is just sitting in a box.
-
it is said that selling a mystery keycap brings 10^2 years of misfortune :D

I bid x=2.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001

Opps, i missed that part...
-
If bidding is exponential, shouldn't it be $10^x or $x^10?
$10x is linear.
-
If bidding is exponential, shouldn't it be $10^x ?
$10x is linear.
I used the "sup" tag so it should be showing up as 10 with a superscripted x making it exponential. If it's showing as 10x then your browser or app isn't displaying the code correctly.
-
I bid 3.14159265359
I challenge those to outbid me by going out a few further decimals ;)
Once again http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=positive+integer
Seriously. If you people can't read directions I guess I really can't expect my students to be able to do so either.

x10 is not exponential
-
what is this an auction or a math lesson :))
-
x=0. Not worth a penny more.
-
I can see why the mystery benefactor chose you as a vessel.
-
wait is this auction public? i hate those
-
Okay so bidding starts at 10^2 = 100 and next bid has to be 1000. Just call it a sale, that's what it is.
Also, I assume the mystery donor wouldn't be too happy with that...
-
x10 is not exponential
Yeah well my statement still holds. Boolean logic ftmfw!
-
x=0. Not worth a penny more.
You'd pay a whole dollar for it?

Doubt kawa cares

Guess it isn't really up to the mystery donor though...
-

Both!
x=0. Not worth a penny more.
Yo dude why you no respond to my PM about the Dolch set? I PM'd within 10 minutes of your thread going up. Did someone really PM before me?

Hey now! Just because you don't have the funds to pay for the keycap when x=3 doesn't mean someone else doesn't.
-
$10^1/x, x=3
-
$10^1/x, x=2
-
I suppose he could have gone with the price being ex to yield a smaller granularity... ;D
On second thought Pix includes values closer to the 100, 1000, and 10000 powers of ten values...
-
$10^1/x, x=2
My x was greater, therefore my bid wins. My logic makes as much sense as this auction.
I'll increase to $10^1/x, x=4
-
I'll play your game you rogue
"increase" bid to $10^1/x, x=5
-
Did I mention that I hated algebra in high school?
-
I rename the Mystery Keycap the Troll Cap! 10^6...one MILLION DOLLARZ!
JK I have no cash.
-
This whole thread is a troll...

You don't get to redefine the expression. It is clearly laid out in the OP what expression I am referring to. In addition, your expression is ambiguous. It could be taken as either (10^1)/x or 10^(1/x). In either case for positive integer values greater than 1 it's less than the starting bid. This isn't a reverse auction.
If you're not bidding then move along.
-
Should have made it 2^x then maybe people would actually bid *shrug*
-
This isn't for playplay, it's for realsreals?
/boggle
-
Read the OP a few times over, so this is for a trade only? Can trade a blank white BPT keycap for it, a plastic bag that tsangan gave me with a GB, and some lint from my pocket. If not, bag is up for auction.

I didn't mention anything about trading in the OP.
