Title: supergo-clears!
Post by: sth on Sun, 23 September 2012, 15:33:17
got some 55g korean springs and decided to throw them in my ergo clear poker.
so far i'm liking it quite a bit. the tactile bump is much more noticeable to me once i get a good cadence going-- things kind of glide a bit more. i have not tried lubing these but i will be soon (getting some ro59 next week i think).
i did have to try a few springs as i imagine the tolerances were not all perfect -- some springs just refused to reliably re-set the stem. now i'm not having any problems with keys sticking.

hopefully my poker case from imsto comes soon. i also want to try this combo plate mounted when i have the chance.

anybody else tried this combo?

I'm going to convert my switch testers into lube and spring testers soon.  Looking forward to discovering good combos like this one.

i think they're going to be a lot nicer with lube. this might not be a good combo for everybody but it is an interesting mod for people who like both tactile and ridiculously light switches (me).

Super light switch? Isn't a red/blue/brown spring a 45g spring? So 55g spring should be more heavy? And how are you guys sourcing these korean springs?

brown/red/blue is 45g at actuation, but we dont know what the max compression is
55g is ??? but lighter than brown/red/blue at actuation but 55g at max compression

What's stock MX Clear's spring force? I thought they were heavy, so the ergo-clear mod puts in the lighter 45g springs...

Ah I see. So it's 55g at full compression, not actuation point. Where can I get these 55g springs as well? If I can get some, I'll do this mod and post back.

MX clears is relatively close to MX black springs I believe.

Clears is slightly stiffer than black, I don't know by how much.

I'm really interested in trying out super ergo clears as well :D Just gotta wait for my board to get here and get some custom springs.
