Title: Opinions on MX Milks?
Post by: noisyturtle on Sat, 29 September 2012, 21:48:31
I was considering picking up a Race with milks, but not too sure about how they feel versus blues or browns. Qtan's saying "it feels very close to MX blue but make much much less sounds" but I would like to hear some first hand opinions before taking the plunge.

They're blues, but quieter and stiffer spring. I use them on my WASD's modifier keys.

lol what is "mx milk"? Are you talking about switches or the case color? Never heard of mx milk. Is this white or clear switches?

Yeah same here. Did you make that up, or is there actually a new switch called MX "milk" that somehow nobody here knows about? lol

MX White are called "MX Milk" because sometimes (in China, I think), MX Clear are called MX White. Hence "MX Milk" so that the whites and clears don't get confused.

MX white is most similar to green, they are clicky but somehow muted to ~50% volume.  Also some samples have had springs a little stronger than greens.

The real pain being that clear's are far more similar to milk in actuality.

We need another group buy for these switches.  I'd buy at least 100.

I think that "Milk" would be a better description for "MX Clear", as they are translucent white, and the modern "MX White" are opaque white. Nah, well...

Vintage MX White have been translucent like the Clears, and one types was much closer to Blues in feel (Read more (http://deskthority.net/wiki/Cherry_MX_White)).

BTW. You can also order individual White switches from QWERkeys (http://www.qwerkeys.co.uk/collections/cherry-switches).

So are these milk switches clicky like blues or just tactile like browns?

Sorry for the very very low quality (I'll post better photos when at home)
Milky stem:

As you can see it's very similar to blue (stem with 2 parts, tactile and clicky) but it doesn't make "click". It makes "choc"  :D :D (probably cause the black part is a different type of plastic compared to the white part of blues)
The spring is stiff.
As alaricljs said it's like a green but with the "choc" sound.

This is my first post  :D :D

The chinese call the MX white to "milk switch", because they already called the MX clear to "white switch" :))

Here are some better photos I took a while back.

They compare greens and whites
http://s92.photobucket.com/albums/l38/dork_vader/Keyboards/

I still have the 4288x3216 originals, so if anyone wants 1600*1200, I'll put some on imm.io (and if anyone wants better than that. I'll have to find somewhere else to upload them! ) My camera isn't that great, but you should still be able to see the details.

I have 36 pictures in total, so not all are up on photobucket.

The MILK SWITCH is only manufacture KBT RACE,

the mx milk switch is not white or clear switches, that is another mx switch, just like a MX GREEN, but use the 60g Slingshot

That's an MX white as far as my eyes can tell, and I see no difference between it and the other white stem/black slider in your previous post.  Although the spring might be slightly different.

I think they are awesome. I've switched my main keyboard to the one you are talking about. Though, I would find it very interesting if they are in fact not MX Whites, but some thing else entirely.

I'm so happy someone used my picture! This is a milestone, where I'll start watermarking now.

I mean, my MX whites look a lot like the one in the picture
