I haven't found a buyer for my filco yet (not sure if price was too high or it was just my payment method/lack there of) so I'm going to auction it.
It's been used moderately and the keycaps do show some shine and a bit of lettering missing on keys that are used a lot. Also, as you can see from my "under the hood" picture below, it hasn't been cleaned very well. Everything does work fine on it though, I just didn't think to keep it clean because I wasn't very much into all of this stuff when I first got it; I originally just wanted to try out a mech keyboard for gaming.
Buyer will pay shipping so take that into consideration when bidding. Please keep all bids open as replies to this topic, no PM bids please.
Winning Bidder: foogamagoo for $65
Auction Ends Wednesday October 3rd at 8:00pm PDT
Here's a time thing http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/time-zone/usa/pacific-time/pacific-daylight-time.htm
Payment Method
Amazon Payments
Local Pickup - near Patterson, CA or
Postal money order, cash, or something like Western Union. Here's a quote from my other thread on that:
I'm interested in this. But any reason why you can't accept paypal? It's the standard method around here. Cash, money order, and western union is not safe for the buyer, so do do you have any heatware (http://www.heatware.com/eval.php?id=66337) feedback?
I don't use PayPal. The only thing I can really say for trusting me is that when I purchased this keyboard from GH (here's the link to that thread http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=16541) the guy that bought the fukka (wanabe) accidentally received my keyboard and I received his, he shipped mine to me and I shipped his to him. I'll PM him and see if he can vouch that I handled the mix up professionally, for whatever that's worth. That's the only user to user transaction I've ever done so I haven't had any reason to make a heatware account or something similar.
If someone has really positive feedback and is a known/trusted member around here, I wouldn't be entirely opposed to receiving payment after arrival of the keyboard. Idk, I would obviously prefer to receive payment first but I completely understand that it could seem a bit sketchy if it wasn't done through an escrow like PayPal.
yup - i can vouch for what neeb said. we had a little mix up on a transaction a while back that was sorted out w/o any problems.
Let me know if you have any questions!

$10 :p
Have you considered Amazon payments or Google, I'd love to move away from PayPal myself.

The issue right now is that I don't currently have a bank account. I guess I could have a check sent to me idk I'll have to look into it
-
basically if you want the Money order/Western Union, you're putting the cost of the transaction on the buyer.
Just take that into account, i believe the post office charges $1.15 or so for a Money order these days
If you accept personal check, the cost to cash that check out would be on you now, i dont know how much check cashing places take, but i assume around $2-5 dollars depending on the check amount.
Either way, i'll bid $25 + shipping USPS Postal Money Order =P
mainly cause i'll have to take that thing apart to clean it (no offense)

Cashing a check at the issuing bank is free of charge.

No offense taken at all xD
If the cost of the postal order/western union transfer is being paid by the buyer, I wouldn't mind subtracting that from their offer (ie you bid $25, give me $23 if the postal order costs $2).
For the sake of keeping things less complicated though, let's leave that to discuss privately with the winning bidder. I'll leave your $25 bid as is for now.

Awww, :hugs:
I'll bid $30 on that dirty ol' board. I'm close enough I could pick it up. Would probably be less expensive.

And to my credit I have at least been upfront about it not being taken care of properly lol, that counts for something right xD

Well the considerate thing to do as a seller is to at least clean it before shipping it off. Only takes about 10 minutes. It actually should have been done before taking the pics, because seeing something that grimy is a big turn-off. Can you confirm if it's a MJ1 or MJ2? I think posting the model number up will tell us. And also, is that a yellow filco logo?
Anyways, I'll bid $45

To be completely honest I don't know how to properly clean it. Yes I could look into how to do so but I would rather sell it cheaper and let the buyer worry about it. I understand most (if not just about every) keyboard on here is in clean condition, but I don't think it's unheard of to sell an item "as is". You guys are significantly more experienced than me with keyboards and I don't really feel comfortable trying to take it apart to clean it before selling it.
I did remove all of the keycaps, soak them in warm water for a little while, and clean under them as best as I could (prior to taking those pictures) but I didn't feel comfortable doing anything beyond that.
Yes the filco logo is yellow/gold and the label reads:
FILCO DIATEC
Majestouch
N-key rollover
Model/N. FKBN104MC/EB
S/N. 10010127

You should probably open a bank account sooner rather than later. Pretty helpful thing to have when it comes to getting paid from work, and buying/selling things. Even if you don't have much in there just get a regular checking account that doesn't require a specific balance. If you are a young student most banks have free accounts that are easy to sign up for with help of a parental unit.

Yeah I need to set up a student checking account or something. I used to have an account but I ended up closing it because I wasn't using it and it had a ~$10 monthly fee on it

Amazon Payments is all set up and good to go! So I can now accept that as well, which may make things easier for a lot of potential buyers.
