I would have contributed to the wiki from time to time, but there's no option to create an account! How will it ever grow if we can't create accounts!?
-
Interesting, I never realised that. I don't know how DT does it, but DT shares the same login details between the forum and wiki.
-
You can request an account. We may get to the point where logins are unified, but many things are on the to do list.
-
unifying logins was initially thought to be easy but turned into a bit of a headache, so we've abandoned it for the time being. unfortunately, the wiki is a primary target for vandals, so it is necessarily obtuse for now.
bottom line: we are short on time and attention and our priority is raising funds and implementing the new hardware platform.

I can probably help with the single sign-on thing. Let me do some research.

Couldn't you use this?
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:SMF/Users_Integration
It's not a perfect solution.. Just uses smf tables to authenticate wiki, but it seems like it would get the job done.

That extension is stale and doesn't work. There is a better extension that SMF uses on their own Wiki, however it has certain database limitations that open potential security holes. After what happened to the old site, we erred on the side of paranoia and did not go that route. However given the pain in managing the Wiki as it is now, I am looking at it again. We'd need to make changes to get it to work, but it may be the best route for us.
-
short answer: we're working on it, please use the request thread in the meantime.
