Have had the keyboard bug for years, pick them up at thrift stores and swap meets. Love vintage ALPS (AT101's) and Model M's, trying to get the feel for Cherry MX switches, so far no joy. Typing this on my IBM M13.

Welcome :D Hope you enjoy your stay and make a lot of new friends ^^

What cherry switches have you tried so far?
Could be that you are just a model m person at heart. We have quite a few of them here!
Welcome to GH.

Thanks.
Grew up on Buckling Springs and the Dell AT101's were all over the place when I first started out in my career. I keep a stash, but they are becoming scarce. I want to get my precious M13 out of my office before it gets stolen. At first they laughed at it, then they tried it and had the look...
Blues (not bad) and Reds (pure hatred). I want to try some Browns, but have yet to see one in person. The greens sound cool, but nobody makes one.
I might pick up a Leopold TKL with browns and blank keys.

Yeah but I really want to like the new ones. ;D

If you don't like reds you probably won't like blacks, they are jkust a stiffer redds, linear and silent.
And browns are like a cross between reds and blues, so there is some hope, but they are silent (unlike the blues) and the tactile bump is said to be very subtle (unlike the blues).

welcome!
Fellow Model M lover. :D

You could make your own with greens. Or try the new race with white/milk switches.

Well that doesn't bode well for me.

Also, where are you located? I went to a frys and they had boards with all four of the mainstream switches to reinforce my love of blues above all.

Los Angeles. All the Frys out here are full of garbage and rarely have anything good on display.

Check boxes. All but two of the ones I tried were fresh out of box instead of on display. On the other hand, I've been to the Fry's in Cali, they're a lot different than the ones in Texas/Dallas.
