Title: KBC Poker Question
Post by: Cobertt on Sun, 07 October 2012, 00:47:14
So I am getting one of the KBC Pokers from the recent group buy and I wanted to know if the keys were special, as in for the OKCK Orange and Charcoal group buy will I have to get an add on kid or will the standard be just fine. I really like the orange and charcoal look and wanted to make sure I had my facts straight. Thanks ;D

ANSI and ISO are the acronyms used to describe the two most common keyboard layouts. ISO is notable for having a large Enter key and shorter Shift keys, and is more common in Europe. There's really no such thing as "standard", but yes ANSI is probably the most common, which is what your Poker will be. Your Poker is an ANSI keyboard with the Function keys, Arrows, Keypad, etc. chopped off, leaving only the main block of keys.

You will have no problem participating in group buys for Cherry MX keycaps - the base set will almost always fit.

For the Poker, a standard TKL set will be fine, with extra keys to spare. The Pure is nearly identical (physically) to the Poker, except it has a 1.75x right shift + 1x extra key instead of a 2.75x larger right shift found in the poker, in which case you'll need the "tsangan" addon kit for these two keys. This doesn't pertain to the Poker, I just kinda told you that for your own info...

Just wondering if any of you guys know who designed this board and will there be and updated version coming out in the future? I'm not even sure that kbc has a web site.

Also heard some rumors that the Poker stopped production.

Well yes and no. It's still available to order, but need to meet the factory MOQ. But no, they aren't just making them regularly anymore.
