Just built this rig, I haven't touched any clock speeds or voltages. Just using a stock cooler, either stock coolers are really this bad or something is wrong...help?

Those temperatures seem quite high for just having a few things in the background running.
I'm thinking of maybe getting a corsair H100 soon, or RMA'ing the CPU.

The Ivy Bridges run at consistently higher temperatures. There is a thread in the Off Topic about taking off the silver part of your CPU and changing out the crappy heat paste/crust.

The temps are reasonably higher than sandy, but I don't think they should be quite this high.

That does seem rather high, especially considering you're using Voffset and the temps are that high idling at only .968 volts.
I don't want to sound condescending, but have you tried re-applying thermal paste and made sure the hsf is fully seated?

Re apply tim, use AS 5 or some phobya HE grease, because those temps at under 1v are crazy

Yea, bro, De-lid is your only option if you want cooler temps.
Applying new paste to the space between the IHS and Die is not as effective as Direct die contact.

No, for Ivy that's normal... remember it will lower by 5-10 over time.

After delidding and lapping my 3770K as well as using Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra in between both the Die & IHS, and the IHS & Heatsink, with a lapped H100 cooler, I have dropped temperatures to 51C Max at max load, stock clock.

Mine is low 60's max load with much overvolting and overclocking. (2500k overclocked to 4.9Ghz)
Internauta: I would definitely try reapplying thermal grease and reseating. Something isn't quite right there.

That's exactly why I keep yelling at people who are buying Ivy, when Sandy is such a time tested, KNOWN performer... SOLID.... all the way...

No body's asked what case you're using? Poor airflow could be a cause (and is in most instances I've seen with "odd" temps.); generally stock coolers are "just good enough" for stock speeds, but I'll agree that those max temps are a bit on the high side.

Well 4.05GHz on an Ivy Bridge is going to run fairly warm. That's a reasonably decent temp really. I get 65 - 70C 4.5GHz @ 1.35v on my 2500k. And that's on a hyper 212.
EDIT: FAIL. Didnt realize you were idling... Yeah that's high, my 2500k is 70 peak at 100% load. I idle around 45ish. That's a bit high though.

Will do tomorrow night. At a friends house now on my lappy. I tried to go 1.3v but it didnt like it >.> I guess clock can go up rather than voltage down :D

your complaining about 50C temps? those are fine on ivy, i ran my ivy at 90C for like 6 months D3 botting 24/7 with no issues.
what are your temps like under load, run a prime95 and report back.
these chips are built ford tough, dont stress mate.

Yea, OR.... You could delid "like a boss" and get temps as low as Sandy.

1.35 is definitely enough for 4.7ghz, it's good enough for 4.8 if you have a silver chip. The highest "gold chip" I've heard of for 1.35 is 4.9, but i suspect the guy is actually reading the voltages wrong.
Mine is only capable of 4.8ghz at 1.35. I was disappointed, so I bought the stupid intel insurance. running 5ghz.
