Title: Hello!
Post by: mironccr345 on Tue, 09 October 2012, 20:26:28
Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself. Also, does anyone know where I can get key caps for a Dell AT101W? I cleaned the keys and lost the "f" key.  :-[

Hope someone can help? Thanks again and I'm glad to be apart of the Forum.

Welcome to Geekhack!

Not sure about the replacement key caps, other than searching eBay or Classifieds for a donor, but that is a nice keyboard.  Custom case?  Or custom paint job??

That's a sick case! Good luck finding a replacement F key, and welcome to Geekhack.

Thanks for the reply and greetings.

The case is wrapped in 3M Carbon Fiber Di-Noc. Not as easy as I thought it would be, but the end result was worth it. I'm currently using the "pagedown" key as a replacement.

Keys look better with better lighting.

Thanks for the links. I might have to buy one for spare parts? But the search continues.  :D

I posted in your other thread. If you are just looking for 101 spare caps, your best bet for the cheapest replacement keys is going to be a thrift store or local e-cycling place. I've seen many for $1-$3. You can also find other ALPS compatible keycaps from other brands.

On topic:

Wouldn't the F from a broken Focus FK-2001 work as well? Or pretty much any similarly coloured ALPS board?

I'd say keep an eye out. Somebody is bound to be selling and hit up thrift stores. I love that, never know WHAT you'll find for cheap.
