Title: Difference between Pure, Race, and Poker?
Post by: Hyde on Sun, 21 October 2012, 11:24:57
Sorry I think this might have been asked before but I just want to double check.  This is what I understand so far:

Race = 75% = Has F1, F2, F3... etc and arrow key and the del, home cluster too.

Pure = 60% = Similar layout to Poker but backlit?  I think I heard people say this has one extra key and shorter right shift, what is this key exactly?  Also does this still have the dual layer functions?

Poker = 60% = I see the legends for dual layer functions and no backlit, uses standard keys?  I can just buy new keycaps and pop in it and will work?

I think Race is a bit more obvious but I find I'm having a bit trouble telling the difference between Pure and Poker aside from the backlit.

Oh another question is how hard is it to switch the casing?  My g/f seems to reallyyyyyyy like the aluminum casing so I might get one for her later or something  :P

Race: just as you said

Pure = 60% = Similar layout to Poker but has one extra key to the right of a shorter right shift.  This extra key is ~ it has Apps written for Fn layer but that never did anything for me...
On poker the ~ is in the upper right and Esc is on the Fn layer for that key.

Poker, you can just buy new keycaps and pop in it and will work fine with any ANSI key set.  For pure you need to scratch around for a short right shift and the extra key.

Only casing difference is that pure can take an extra screw to make the PCB more rigid.  Poker and pure will function equally well in a poker alu case

Oh sweet thanks guys, this is really helpful.

Though it sounds like I like the layout of Race > Pure > Poker, but I like how the custom keycap is easy to find on Poker > Pure > Race damn it lol.

Why is this so hard  =____=

I dislike the Race. Don't feel like repeating myself, so just read here: http://deskthority.net/keyboards-f2/noppoo-choc-mini-vs-kbc-poker-vs-kbt-pure-t2676.html
Race is a good concept, not so good in execution.

I don't like Pure because of the second layout. Most importantly, the arrow keys of pure is not in my taste. I prefer Poker more even though many people complained about its flexness.
