Title: quick thunderbird question
Post by: sth on Mon, 29 October 2012, 17:42:21
does anybody know how to add a tag bar to thunderbird? not to add a tag to a message, but to display all messages with a particular tag? plugins are fine but i only know how of a plugin to add a 'tag messages' bar, not a 'message tags' bar.

thx

Not sure about a tag bar, but you can select from the menu View - Messages - Tags - and then select the tag you want to see - that will show only messages with that tag, which is what I understand you want to do.

The menu entry is View, then Messages, then Tags.

Also this page has a bit of blurb about tags: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Tags

That's what I'm saying - in my View menu, there is no messages submenu. I wonder if this is specific to icedove? I can't see deb devs removing features like that but its possible that this is a slightly older version.

What version are you using?  I have 16.0.2 (the latest, as of this morning).

Hmmm.

Or a slightly quicker way - there is a dropdown on the toolbar, which seems to do the same thing but is slightly easier to click:
