Title: Backlit keyboard with cherry blues
Post by: starfrost on Tue, 06 November 2012, 15:34:54
Hello!

I'm currently in the market for a backlit keyboard with cherry blues with >=12KRO (preferably NKRO). I am currently using an XArmor U9BL, but the keyboard recently developed some problems with double letters, and the board is outside the warranty period.

Would anyone happen to have any suggestions? I'm thinking of  the following model:
"Ducky Shine II DK9008S2 - Blue LED Mechanical Keyboard (Blue Cherry MX)"

It's my understanding that this keyboard has an NKRO and 6KRO mode, toggleable via a switch in the back? I've also heard mixed reports about whether USB/PS2 adapters work with this keyboard.

Thanks for your time!

You could also go for a Ducky Year of the Dragon. Check the group buy section to find some for sale.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm not sure how I feel about tenkeyless boards though, as I've never used one.

Simple – do you use the number pad for anything? :-)

Also, if you do, they sell number pads separately.

Shine 2 is made in a TKL and full-sized.  I love my full sized keyboards.  Deck is another option!

Thanks for all the feedback everyone! I do use the numpad for a legacy game here and there, so I guess I'll have to think about it :)

Does anyone know if  there are any significant differences between the Shine II TKL and the Year of the Dragon? Or if PS2 adapter would work with either one?

On a side note, it appears that my current keyboard can sense the end approaching because the double key problem is hitting a new low/high!

The Year of the Dragon has some additional lighting effects, some special caps, and such, and certain switch/LED combos. The Shine II has many different combos of LED and switch.

Can't go wrong with the Ducky Shine (http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/search.php?switch_id=ALL&size=ALL&keyword=Shine&backlit=on), either version. Nice keycaps, all the switches, and lots of color options.

I agree :) I've decided to go with the fullsize Ducky Shine 2.

Unfortunately, it seems that TigerImports/MechanicalKeyboards is out of stock of the cherry blue w/blue LEDs version. Does anyone know of any other places that offer these boards with comparable pricing? Else, I suppose I will have to wait till they get more stock!
