Title: FS: Das Professional (Costar), KBT Race MX White
Post by: newtrekemotion on Thu, 08 November 2012, 19:17:56
Das, Costar made, has blue switches and is in good shape. It isn't even a year old. I have the original box and can find a USB to PS/2 adapter if you want one of those as well.  Asking 70 USD, plus shipping.

KBT Race with MX White/ MX "Milk". Purchased from Qtan a few months ago. This version came with PBT keycaps and no backlighting. Asking 85 USD plus shipping.

Dell AT101W, with Black Alps, given to me by my former employer. I've cleaned it up as best as I can and have certainly seen worse off older keyboards ( you should see some of the Sun keyboards, at my current work...). Anyway, asking 20 USD plus shipping.

I was just about to say that! I wonder why the space bar yellowed a tiny bit though. Odd.

Thanks! I thought it was in pretty good shape. I'm not sure about the space bar though.

Someone grab that Dell....alps switches are the best tactile switches period.  Cherry mx clear's can go die in a hole.

I do like the switches on the Dell, just looking to sell the fullsize boards.

Still have the Das, and added my Race.

I have a question for everyone though, is listing with domestic shipping included and have international shipping as an extra prefered to just listing without shipping?

Race with white switches and pbt caps? It is well worth $100, trust me. Just buy it. I love mine.

Maybe make it $100 free CONUS shipping to sweeten the deal.

Rather than make another FS thread, I'm updating this one. I had some personal stuff that landed me away from geekhack (and most of life, actually) for the past several months. I've updated the prices above, but tldr: Das with Blues (70USD + shipping) and Race with Whites (85USD + shipping).

Hey

You have a White MX and you used to have a Clear MX. How did you feel about them, as compared to other more commonly found switches?

I really like the Whites. They are a bit quieter than the Green I'm typing on, but I don't like the layout of the Race. Blues feel  incredibly light by comparison now. The Clear MX was nice too, my girlfriend has a Filco with Browns and I liked the weight of the Clears better, but the bump was less noticeable which is unfortunate. I've yet to try Ergo-clears, but I have a feeling I might like them better than both of the previously mentioned.

how are whites and clears compared with blacks? Are they heavier?

And how does their tactility/ feedback compare with blues and browns?

Noisewise, how do they compare with blues and greens?

I'm keen on getting whites and clears, but not very keen on your KBT's layout.

Whites and Clears are a little heavier than Blacks imo. Clears are Browns on steroids. The tactile bump is enormous. Whites are heavier Blues, with a muted click and I think lubing because they're very smooth. Whites and Clears are quieter than Blues and Greens; I think Clears are slightly quieter than Whites.

OP, if you think this isn't help your sale let us know and we can take the discussion elsewhere ^__^

I've never used Black MX so I won't speak on that. The bump on the clears to me is overtaken by the weight. So on the blues for example the bump is very noticeable, and so to me the clears deserve them being called "mushy" by some.

Whites are much quieter than blue/green but IME the feel of the white is a bit smoother than green. White would be my MX switch of choice.

I agree that Clears are quieter than Whites with one exception, bottoming out. I sold my clears to someone in the office and he louder on the clears than someone else with a Unicomp(which is more "ping-y", but not as loud).

As for the discussion, it doesn't bother me. The more informed people can be before they buy the better.

I am also starting to lean towards having MX Whites as my favorite MX switch. Those or Blues. I will eventually try ergo-whites as well (as soon as I get an iron). And I also agree with you that the Clear bottom out sound can be very loud.

How are you not bottoming out on clears is the question :P

I have tiny Asian girl hands and I still bottom out on clears.

How about whites and greens? Are those the heaviest cherry switches? I like the blues and browns that I have, but something a little less "dainty" might be nice.

Hey, don’t mind me asking, but what material and printing type are DAS’s default keycaps? It looks incredibly good for a one year old used keyboard. The white letters just seem to stand out so much.

IIRC it is ABS with laser-etched keys. I do like the keys on it especially for defaults.
