Title: CM Storm Power-RX Hybrid Mouse Pad
Post by: Hyde on Thu, 08 November 2012, 23:13:42

Just saw this now, it says cloth + rubber coating.  Wouldn't that be super grippy and slow?

Anyone have any experience with this?

Could be something similar to the old SS 5L, if it is I'm getting this as soon as I can.

The rubber coating is on the bottom for non-slip on your desk.

"A low friction textured weave submerged into a thin layer of a special rubber compound that sits on a soft anti-slip silicon base that perfectly grips onto any surface. "
The surface seems to be a texture-rubber hybrid with a silicon bottom that keeps it from slipping.

Carter described this to me as a material that feels like a wetsuit.

So took a look at the Power today, and it's harder than the Speed, which feels like a thicker version of the QCK+ that I have. The power has a sort of manta ray/wet suit kind of feel. Didn't take pictures because the lighting wasn't adequate.

Mmmmm I wish I know how manta ray feel like LOL.  Though how fast would you say this compares to other common mousepads?  Say like compare to QCK, Goliathus, Puretrak Talent, or hard pads like Razer Scarab... etc?

My experience with mousepads are very limited, unfortunately. Its rougher than the QCK/Speed. If I had to elaborate a little more, I would have to say it's a soft pad, but the pliable surface with the texture of a harder mousepad like the Scarab.

I've always used cheap $2 mouse pads, I just can't see an expensive mouse pad doing much :x

I have a few el-cheapo pads that I've gotten as promos and stuff over the years, they're not all that bad and it's not like they're painful to use, but the more expensive pads I have are just miles better and make using the computer far more pleasant. As for performance, that's a far more complicated discussion I won't even start right now.

Yeah I'm trying to find a perfect balance between quality vs money.  Like I think QCK is amazing for the price.  But since I can afford to pay a bit more so I'm trying to see what better options are out there.  I'd say Artisan pads seats quite high in terms of quality but at the same time they're quite pricey.  So I'm hoping to find a middle ground somewhere in between  :)

I've heard the PureTrak Talent is supposed to be in that sweet spot, but I haven't tried it for myself yet. Enjoying my I-2 too much.
