Title: Mionix Need To Make A Claw Grip Mouse
Post by: Hyde on Sat, 10 November 2012, 00:31:49
My g/f owns a Mionix Naos 3200, while it's great but it's more designed for palm grip.  I also find it too long.

However I really like the design so I hope they'll release a claw grip version one day.  They've been riding on that 1 mouse design for too long it's time to release something new.

Anyone else agree with me  :P

I think they'll release a symmetrical/ambidextrous soon or atleast a left handed mouse due to naniwa.

lol what do you mean due to naniwa?  Also I noticed they have a Mionix Owner's Club at OCN so I guess they do have a pretty big fan base, time to release another new model !

I'd certainly be interested in one and would definitely give it a crack. The size and shape is the only thing that's kept my from their mice. But I've been super happy with their keyboard and prefer it over my pure, and leopold. I also have their new aluminium mousepad coming in the mail in the next day or two, which I'm super excited about trying.

Agreed, the Naos 5k is an amazing mouse, but the palminess of it is off putting to many. Personally I love it, best mouse I've owned (and not just because Mionix sent me a free one,) and it replaced that overpriced Mamba I was using hands down.

lol yeah I tried my g/f's Naos 3200 and just couldn't get use to it.  But the look and finish is just like damnnnnnnnnnn ~~~~~~~ so good ~~~~~~

Though now that I think back, kind of regret not telling her to get the Naos 5000 instead  :(

Naniwa is a swedish Starcraft player, Who is known for being one of the very few "professional" gamers that are left handed.

Damn this thread, up until now I'd always thought of nearly all mice from Mionix, Qpad and Roccat as completely bland and not worth getting, but after looking closer at the Naos 5k it does look really interesting.
As if I don't have enough mice on my wants-list yet.

Ohhhhh that would be awesome then.  If it's Starcraft then it's almost assumed that it should be a fingertip or claw grip mouse  :)

lol I know I used to never notice Mionix until recently, they're basically similar to Razer design style but all matte so that's awesome.  Also ever since Razer gone green theme I'll need other source for my blue LED mice lol.

But doesn't Mionix use mostly green as well? If you want blue I suppose you're gonna have to look towards QPad or Roccat, they might have something. Unless Mionix has multi-color, which would be neat.
Colour really isn't an issue for me as the only thing that will have lighting will be the mouse, and even then it's not a very important feature. But I do like me some multi-color lighting.

For gaming, I love my Naos 5000; it's the only mouse with which I'll game.  (For casual web surfing, et cetera, I prefer the G500.)  I like the fact that Mionix does not oversaturate it's product line but rather focuses on a few tightly-designed products.   A claw-grip mouse, however, would be nice.

Yup, the Naos 5k has 24 different led colors you can switch between. Goes with anything you put on your table.

Naos 3200 has red/green/blue colors, and Naos 5000 has multi-color LED (literallly any color you want).  But I do agree all their other products are green themed.  I guess I'm just picky  :P

I just picked up the Naos 5k, the shape is incredibly comfortable. Finally a good mouse with proper pinky support. I know there are others, but most of them are either discontinued or not really what I'm looking for.
Not sure how it'll do in gaming yet, but only one way to find out.

Edit:
Not really liking how the click feels though. And while the shape is great, I think it might be a tiny bit small for me, not sure yet, but if anyone knows of a similarly shaped mouse that's a tad larger I'd love to hear it.

I thought Naos was pretty big.  At least length wise it's pretty long, maybe it feels small because it's low in height and you're used to palm grip mouse with a lot of height?

The only other mice in similar shape I can think of off my head head are SteelSeries Ikari, Naga Epic with palm side grip, and Naga 2013 with palm side grip also.  Ikari might be your closest bet since Naga is actually pretty small.

I've had my hands on a Naga once and I really liked the shape. I don't really need the buttons on it though, so I haven't picked one up yet. I might get the Ikari sometime, the Naga is on my list if I can spare the cash.

I'll admit, I only bought Naga because it's the only mouse from Razer (My first Razer actually) lineup that fits my hand size comfortably and my grip style and has side button.  And I only use 1 button out of the 12 grid LOL (A waste I know, but it also cost the same as Imperator and Orochi so why not).

Before Naga I did consider Orochi, Abyssus and Imperator.  But I find Orochi is just a tad bit too small and I get wrist cramps after long hour usage.  Abyssus is just too "squared" like it's actually not that comfortable to use also has no side button (I really just want 1 for back).  Imperator might have been good too but it was too close to my last mouse (Logitech G5) so I wanted something different.

But yeah if you're like me that doesn't need all the buttons and just find the shape comfortable, Naga Hex is another good choice.

I don't think the Hex version got the upgrade though, although the new Nagas require Synapse you don't actually need it after the first configuration thanks to the on-board memory.

They just released the 2012 edition of the Naga, with interchangeable side-panels (which I really like), but I think the regular Naga was the only Naga model to get the 2012 upgrade, although I don't know if it was significant enough to really matter all that much, apart from the side-panels.

Yeah the only difference is the side panel, everything else is pretty much the same.  So Naga Hex doesn't have the side panel thing and cost $80, while the Naga 2012 has side panel but cost $90.

I find the default side pretty comfortable though, haven't try the claw grip or palm grip side so I don't know how good those are.  But the 6 mechanical button on Naga Hex definitely feels better than the 12 button grid on regular Naga.
