I was skeptical about the vertical until I bought one a few weeks ago.
The knock-off Joy Pen is great, and I quickly came to love it. I am not a gamer, so poor specs don't matter to me.
But I really want a left-hand mouse, and the only style that is apparently available does not appeal to me, besides being very expensive.
I have large hands and dry skin, so it has to have the combination of a bigger size and a texture that is not slippery. I also like the slight angle or lean of the Joy, the others seem far too upright.
Google search and ebay/amazon do not return viable options for me.
Thanks!

Depending on how many buttons you need, try
DXT (ambi)
http://www.cityergonomics.com/
Evoluent VM4L (left)

Penguin (ambi)

Quill (left)

Hmm looks interesting (not really ambi, but I want one :D)

Thank you.
I bid on a Quill on ebay recently, but did not win it.
All those others look to be exactly what I don't want, a design similar to the Evoluent. I got a left-hand Evoluent and have used it for nearly a month, but I simply can't be comfortable with it. Too vertical, and too dependent on the thumb opposing the fingers.
I still think that the Joy Pen is the right configuration.
